Oh Dear

Very nice, I love the styling of these cars and the big wheels just make it. I definitely think it looks better than the mini both inside and out and the only thing I would have changed is the colour. It's annoying they don't do the other darker gray/silver in the sports model.

We've been looking at these each time we've changed the car since they first came out and they seem to hold their value much better than any other car out there (i'm talking non sports model here though)

Bringing this thread back from the dead...

Im looking at one of these now, Ive yet to pass my practical test (3-4weeks) but when I do im wanting to buy myself a little car for Christmas... Ive been driving my 94 Mini (1.3spi) for a few months whilst learning and im now ready to get something newer.

My local Suzuki dealer has a new 1.3Attitude in stock for £8.5k, which is tempting me. Im not sure if the Sport will be a little too quick for a first proper car...

I will soon have 12month No claims with my current insurance policy and im 28 so im hoping the insurance wont be too astronomical either way.

Sooo... how are you liking yours?

Spend a couple of grand on a car now, then save up til a few years then get something a bit special. Buy the swift now and you will regret it in a couple of years

DO NOT spend £8.5k on a brand new suzuki 1.3 :p

Yes, Yes I can see it now, how a 1.3 could have "attitude", say's it all really don't do it :p

Im struggling to understand the reasoning behind some of these comments, £8.5k isnt a lot of money, sure finding a 6-12month old example with only a few hundred miles on would be a bonus... Ive budgeted ~@10k for my first years motoring (excluding petrol)

The Attitude model has all the body styling, alloys and interior trim of the Sport, but, with the 1.3 engine its not as fast/powerful, which i think is a definate advantage for my first couple of years.

I dont like most of the other cars in its class, the New MINI is the only other car I dont mind the look of, but, id have to be looking at an 52/03plate car to manage to keep within my budget... Personally id prefer a 07/57 to a 4year old car, warranty and overall reliability being the main reasons.

Would anyone care to elaborate on these reasons for saying "Dont do it..." thanks.

The Swift from what i have read in magazines and on the web, is widely regarded as one of the best small cars ever.
And nobody has a bad word to say about the sport.

10k is a hell of a lot of money for a years motoring without the petrol! As for a 1.3 being a 'definite advantage' for your first couple of years, wrong, you wil get irritated by the lack of performance after about a week, get the most powerful one.
Warranty I can't really argue with, but there is no reason a 4 year old car wouldn't be perfectly reliable, it's hardly ancient.

My mate just recently got himself a Swift, also on a 57 plate, great little motor. He blagged the price down a bit and also got some special metallic paint that seems to change from pale green to a light silvery blue depending on the light condidtions thrown in too. :)

I disagree, I think £8,500 is quite a lot of money.

It's 5% of the cost of the average terraced house. It's more than I have spent on cars in the last 11 years. It's just under 50% of the average UK annual salary.

Sorry, Suz over the mini anyday. The mini is already old and dated and on every street corner. Plus the swift will take the like for like mini on any day of the week.
