Oil strike

but the strike is being said to affect scotland and the north east - why the hell are people panic buying in the midlands?? (if your locations are right)
Because people are stupid. And then you get the majority following because a shortage is caused by the idiots that set off panic buying.

I have no idea why people seem to be panic buying but the queues have been massive at nearly all the petrol stations I went past today.

The only one that seemed to not really be affected was the BP garage but that's probably been due to the fact the prices are higher there than the other ones located near by.

Does panic buying help the petrol price increase? does it raise awareness? or does it counter this and provide more profit to fuel retailers?

Well, apparently that refinery serves 30% of the uk's total oil (according to the BBC) so I imagine a vast wedge of it makes it to the Midlands..

I really can't be doing with lame panic buyers wrecking everything again, its just the most stupid thing to do..

I did fill up this morning, but to be fair I was running on fumes and wouldn't have made it to work otherwise!

Fuel retailers make little profit anyway.

Certainly in Scotland, the government has said there is to be no price increase.

I was going to say, petrol price increases.. the government only have to reduce the tax and it balances out. However, this doesn't explain why they have let it creep up from ~90p - 1.10p per litre.. :(

Ah I have a nice full tank of veggie oil with a little diesel to thin it down. Should tide me over for 3-4 weeks until this all blows over. I'll laugh at the numpties queuing up as I pass the garage later :)

I was a bit miffed, because once I did actually manage to find a station with some diesel, it was 125p... about the highest i've ever paid tbh.
