Oil strike

People have been panic buying up here since Monday/Tuesday. Saw one guy put a full tank in his Jeep and then proceed to fill as many cans as he could.

People at work saying stuff like "I'm not panic buying, but I put a whole tank in." I asked how much they usually put in "1/3 of a tank". Didn't bother trying to explain that THAT CONSTITUTES PANIC BUYING!

Actually under official Motors rules, if you don't brim the tank every time, you are a skinflint who can't really afford to run the car.

Stupid... I needed fuel on monday, I always, and this is being totally honest, I always fill my tank to max each time I fill up. I was on nearly empty according to my fuel gauge, so I filled up as normal...

cost me £57 - it is getting expensive, but I can't be doing with 1/3 tanks or whatever, it gets a full tank, and that lasts me a few weeks on average... Depends on where I'm going..

Its knee jerk reaction to news sensation. Always will be, and will never change. Monday, I witnessed a bloke filling up his car, then filling up cans and whatever else, might as well have stuck the nozzle in his jeans pockets and filled his pockets with fuel as well, total muppet....

I held my head in my hands as I watched a guy fill a transit van a few years back in the last serious strike/thing, then proceeded to fill 2 jerry cans with a vigilant expression on his face..

ffs, what goods a couple of cans of extra fuel going to do you???

Perhaps he wanted petrol for his mower?

I fill my tank to the brim everytime i fill the car up. Once i reach around 400 miles, depending on where im heading i will begin the process again.

I thought it was ilegal for people to keep over a certain quantity of fuel in their house?

aren't there laws in place with regards to protecting the countries fuel supply, yes they were put in place due to petrol blockades etc - but this strike action threatens the fuel supply.. ergo illegal/

Distance?

I have a jerry can full of fuel for my pressure washer, mower, chainsaw, hedge clippers etc.

if he government really did their job and actually looked after the people they would cut the tax to zero over the strike period thereby really screwing up the supply chain but boosting the sale of the fledgling plastic container industry as the sheep stockpile (that ironically relies on oil). I hope the whole of Scotland grinds to a halt, serves 'em right.

;)
