dalin80 said:becuase many new polos are on long life service intervals which is 20,000 miles between servicing and using up 4l in that time would empty the sump. this means you would be essentially having twice the amount of oil changes in that time and at £15 (more soon the prices of VW 501 and 502 are expected to head up) a litre the cost adds up.
plus 2l in 10,000 miles is pretty bad on its own and hardly confidence inducing, if it was an engine we rebuilt the customer would certainly be demanding repairs for free on garantuee.
Didn't you know, fords run on oil.Xez said:What do you mean by that?![]()
[TW]Fox said:Do you have published specifications for oil consumption, though?
[TW]Fox said:Some engines use oil, some don't. As a rebuilder of engines I dont understand why you are having such a hard time grasping this.

Ive never had a car in that bad, iam getting more and more chuffed with my little 200, by what iam reading here barely spilling 0.25l in 20,000 miles is almost divine intervention.
the s2000 with the f20c2 engine doesnt give me any info but i would expect about .5l per 6000 miles
