What'd be awesome is in about say 2 years, give someone about £50,000 in these 20 pound notes so that can't actually do anything with them. I'd love to watch their rage when they realize.
Pretty sure they could still get the money, it would just be a lot more hassle to them. Just because the notes are no longer in use, doesn't mean the value they represent suddenly disappears.

You sure? [link]There's always a cut off date!
Are old Bank of England notes worthless?
No; all Bank of England notes retain their face value for all time. If your local bank, building society or Post Office is not willing to accept these notes then they can be exchanged with the Bank of England in London. For more information on how to exchange Bank of England banknotes that have been withdrawn from circulation see the exchanging banknotes page.

Either that, or give them £50,000 but in fake money.... with a tiny note on them in the right corner which reads "LOLZ this ain't real cash!"

edit: Beaten like a ginger stepchild ...

You can even take a current note to the Bank of England and exchange it, but you'll only get another one back.
