mmm bit of furbs, still remember the fcut website with the awesome graphics for each user. :)

You were also in the HCSL, we beat you on Inferno. Trying to remember the clan that was scared we'd beat them and got their mate Barely Legal to play their last game against us on Aztec. He utterly pwned us almost single handedly, then someone complained and they forfeited the match meaning we won the league.

:D

[JP]Stag back in 1999, waves to MrLOL and his thimble collection. Get's a bit hazy as I was at uni but I think I joined prodigy.cs and then EoS with Stu, Shep, Pee, Grandad (g-pie g-cop) and the mystery that was Bob The Monkey IIRC, then bs.cs with some of the legends in this thread as well as some of the old [OcUK] boys like McBain, Will Gill and 6th (mmm bit of ted).

Funny memory of nailing bain through the wall in nuke using a para in a [JP] vs [OcUK] match, he was livid! :D

Them were the days.

Old CS was truly brilliant and I miss it :(
CS 1.6 feels slow now in comparison to me for some reason (I blame valve) and its just not the same :(
Atleast now bunnyhopping is slightly more of a skill!

I started playing on Jolt 56k Servers back in 2001-2, stopped playing 2004 just after source came out and moved onto DOD instead.

I used to love it it 56k days cs_thunder sat at one end of the dam attempting to snipe with my 280 ping and my 20fps

There was a great community involved in CS back in the day, not saying it's no-good now but i must admit i envisage it to be just a bunch of 14yr old tools throwing abuse at each other (ok... so not much has changed :D). Any of you old-schoolers still play source? It was never the same for me after that :(

Source finally killed the old skool community (Valve had done a good job nerfing the game before that anyway). This was due to splitting the community between the people who wanted pretty graphics and the hardcore who simply loved the pure gameplay which source failed to duplicate in the same way.

I wanted to like source, but it just isn't as good. What stood CS apart was the massive learning curve, CS:S seemed to reduce that curve significantly. Part of it was players getting better but I can remember when a good player in CS was almost unbeatable when up against an average player. Now the average player will hold their own, before they were left for dust (no pun intended ;)).
