Old games that look worse than you remembered

Anything 3D really. Things like Transport Tycoon and Theme Hospital don't look so bad as everything was drawn pretty well in the first place. I think Diablo 2 still looks great.

I love playing old games at low resolutions and then I look at my phone and it seems mega high res :D

With smart phones as good as they are these days I'm surprised more old games havent been ported accross. Playing Duke 3D on my iphone is great fun!

It's the N64 era games that look the worst now. Try playing Ocarina of Time, go to the hyrule market and make out what is going on. I dare you!

This, they look absolutely shocking now :( I'd like to play OoT again but can't be bothered to buy a 3DS.

Lots of SNES and Megadrive games still look fantastic, ie: SF2Turbo, Streets of Rage 2, Super MarioKart, Zelda 3, Sonic 2...

I was surprised how bad Dark Forces looked when I loaded it up recently (bought the jedi pack from steam sale). Couldn't make out what things were supposed to be :(

DarkXL has helped though, makes it playable :)

Mostly really early 3D games that were going for photorealism make my eyes bleed.

Older stuff that's drawn or pixel art looking is more of a style than dated to my eyes anyway.

8- and 16-bit games still look really good to me for the most part.

DX looks pretty bad. It's not so much the engine, just the design on it was kinda poor. The new one got a lot of stick on the forums for not looking like the old one and being anime inspired. I was asking people if they'd realised th old one was, just in a really ugly half assed way a lot. You could actually get stuff looking a lot better on UT99. Was playing mods on there as recently as 2010.

It wasn't a pretty game when it came out though.

Neither was Half-Life really. Half-Life was loved more for it's gameplay than it was for being a technical tour-de-force.

Far Cry looks pretty bad, looks almost Cartoony compared to Crysis. That said, some of the indoor areas still look decent. Fantastic game though, and still totally playable.

Definitely Star Wars: Dark Forces. Watched a video walkthrough on YouTube recently. Now I almost wish I didn't. I seem to remember it being a lot more sophisticated than it really was (both gameplay and graphics).
