Getting around to fixing an old PC that I bought in parts.

Has an Intel Celeron, 512MB RAM, 160GB HDD.

It get's to "verifying DMI pool data" then comes up:

Active Killdisk
Sanitation of 5JS5R12C started 2016.. etc
Secure erase method one pass random
Sanitation completed 2016...etc
Result: Success
All this text is in green.

It sometimes comes up "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT (white text from here) SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.
I cannot pass this point

I assumed the drive was formatted, and never heard of killdisk before but left this PC for ages due to other issues which I fixed.

It's an IDE HDD so cannot put it in my machine to format, what are my options here?

Everything hardware wise is from the bay.

HDD is a ST3160021A.

You just need to install an OS on it by the sounds of it, Killdisk is just secure drive wiping software.

Highly unlikely to take anything modern so XP or some form of Linux i say is your best bet.

OK thanks, i know it's old but It's money spent so reluctant to give up on it.

I'll put Lubuntu on a USB drive and fingers crossed it works.
