Old Slang

div:
descriptive noun

ie: 'you div'

a div is a person said to be lacking in intelligence

hope it hasn't already been mentioned, the word seemed to disapear from my school ,and i never heard it again

It's a shortened form of 'plebian', which is over 2000 years old, maybe as old as 2700 years. So yes, it's old :)

In ancient Rome the plebs, plebeians or (Latin) plebeius were the general body of Roman citizens, distinct from the more privileged class of patricians, there is little racial distinction between either class, even during the time of kings, however the populace during the times of Romulus,Numa Pompilius and Tullus Hostilius were all called patricians, it is during the reign of Ancus Marcius that the plebs came to Rome from diplomatic alliances; secondary citizens. At the time of the foundation of the Republic they were excluded from the Religious Colleges and Magistracies, and the law of twelve tables barred intermarriage (which was lifted by the Lex Canuleia.) however the plebs were enrolled in the gentes and tribes, served in the army, and could become military tribunes.

I called someone that not so long ago, he thought it was brilliant. He likened it to being called a tool only really specific. I call people Spanner as well as Spoon, Donkey and Tube. Oh and Numbnut (reserved for only those most especially dumb people)

I'm sure there are loads of others but I can't think of them at the moment :o Old age don't ya know ;)

I always go 'you spoooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!'

You Flid, as in Phalidamide (Ultra dodgey spelling)
