why is she british and not english why is she ashamed to be english?

She isn't ashamed to be English, I find it rather odd that you would accuse her so.

Being British means you are simply born in the country, if we are talking merely legally.

Otherwise, I would say she is British because despite her background fits nicely into our traditional lifestyle and appreciates British values and history. Some may disagree. I will have to ask her more to clarify what she thinks I suppose.
