Oldest OC'er to pass their test?

I grew up in a rural area with no public transport for miles and even when you reached that public trasport it was unreliable, slow and didn't get you where you close to where you needed to be.

Your own transport was more important than a GCSE in my area.

+1

Doesn't stop me absolutely LOooving driving tho :)

I was 17 when i passed my driving test on the first attempt - that was many years ago now tho :p

Only passed my motorbike test two years ago aged 32 though ;)

was 18 when i passed, need it for where i live 1 bus at 7am into town 1 hour later in town then leaves town at 6:30pm sucks so much and paying £2-3 a day was a bit harsh so car for me was a luxury and esential for any job anywhere else but the closest town.

passed 7 months ago :) im 32. i never wanted or needed a car before that, i only did it due to pressure from my family especially the mrs!

16th birthday for a 50cc 2 stroke bike.
5 weeks after my 17th birthday for a car.
1 month after my 18th birthday for a bike.

I love motors :D

A week before my 27th Birthday. Essentially I couldn't afford the lessons: I only learned when I did because my new employers went halves with the cost.

moped when 16 and driving within 3 months of my 17th I couldn't wait!!!

I also drove my car on the way to 6th form on my 17th with learner plates :D

24, glad to see theres a few people late starting to drive :). Wish i had learned when i was 17/18 now though as id be enjoying cheap insurance by now and would have found it easier to learn when i was younger. ]

Still I'm older and more sensible so less chance of having a silly accident.

2weeks before my 29th Birthday for me... 4months ago now. :)

Similar story to OP, starting learning at 17, awful instructor, put me in for my test before i felt ready and i let her know that but she just said have a crack it at, whats the worst that can happen, i failed with about 100majors... My confidence took a huge knock from that and i gave up.

Worked at a poorly paid hellhole of a job for 10years and relied on lifts everywhere, Quit and got a much better paid job and decided enough was enough, theory test, 8 lessons, practical test... and now im loving the freedom. :)

22 and 4 months, couldnt afford at college/uni and didnt need a car so passed when I got myself a job and loving it now!
