Olympic Boxing

Easy fight for him, the other guy was out of it after that right.

What's that, 4 or 5 guaranteed medals from boxing now? :p

Edit - 4. Plus we have someone in both of tomorrows quarterfinals.

British boxer Anthony Ogogo has guaranteed himself a medal at the Olympics.

He has proven to be a much better fighter than his father, Hugo, who lost every one of his battles against Batfink.

First GB quarter final on now Andrew Selby in the Flyweight category, he should win this and guarantee himself a medal. Fred Evans is up later in his welterweight quarter final.

Edit - I spoke too soon, Selby's down 5 points after 2 rounds

So much for that. I really thought Selby would have won that match but he seemed to be fighting a bit careless :(

Evans through to his semifinal.

PLEASE don't laugh but I'm a bit confused about something I keep hearing..

If a boxer get's through to the semi finals they're guaranteed a bronze medal. How?

I assume the winners of each semi final go through to the final and they fight it out for gold and silver leaving the two semi final losers to fight it out for bronze?!? Surely the loser of that fight gets nothing.

(Disclaimer - I know nothing about boxing and it's been a long day so if I'm missing the blindingly obvious forgive me)

Rules of amateur boxing state that if a fighter loses a fight they have to have so many days off before fighting again (not sure on the exact number) because of this they can't have a losers fight between the 2 semi final losers as the games will be over before then so the 2 losers both get a bronze.

Pretty sure that's correct anyway!
