I get the history, the culture and ite influences, I even enjoyed the performances, it's erm just a little strange at times, it's like watching Mulhollland Drive.

Part of me has long though the opening ceremony just delayed the best bit (ie the sport) but I'm hugely impressed so far :cool:

Dunno why people are complaining why the French language is first because if anything, for Beijing it was the same, then English and then Chinese afterwards.

It's to honour the International Olympic Committee first and then the most spoken language or the host next.

Those asking about the French part, iirc the founder of the modern Olympic games is French and the IOC is based in Switzerland.
