I don't really have anything constructive to say but I thought I'd better pop my head in since all my best forum friends are here. I'll probably think Fightstar's album is turd, and I make no apologies for this.

now now kids, people who dont like them are free to dislike them for whatever reason. sometimes people feel the need to slate a band when it'd be 100x easier to just leave it. i feel this way about Red Hot Chili Peppers and pretty much any crappy Indie bands people are going on about...so people are free to do it back!

So anyway..

What's it like? What can they be compared to? I've heard nothing from them. I'd check for 'similar bands' on last.fm but it seems to be blocked at work now.

this album is good+1

and thats based on the rating i gave it from being fightstar, who i initially thought would be bad-1 !

i'll definately be going to see these guys at download!

I've heard it too. Regardless of who he is and what he did in the past, it has got some good riffs and melodies. At the end of the day though it really isn't anything special. All been done a million times before etc...I think the stupidly slick production lets the side down as well. I much prefer a band that has a more natural sound instead of the over-produced feel this album has.
You lose character when you over-produce.

If you like Fightstar, good on you. It's your personal taste.
I would urge you to check out album's like Quicksand's 'Manic Compression' which is over 10 years old but still sets the bar for many 'post-hardcore' type bands.....it also urinates on Fightstar from a great height.

got it. it's ok, but i havent really gotten into Quicksand in a big way...not given them enough of a chance. i think there's a lot to be said for good production. as a personal preference, i find it very difficult to listen to badly-produced music.

Well, i was highly sceptical, but I'm listening to it now, and you know what? I'm liking it, it's good.

Makes me wich I'd taken up the offer to be the photographer when they performed at Soton Uni in March.
