Omlette from chinese takeaways

hmmm, I tend to use Olive Oil maybe not a good idea. I have tried other things vegtable oil, lard (urgghhh), butter, cooking oil. None make it as nice as mine.

I do add salt and a bit of pepper to mine. MSG... maybe I need to get some to test.

Probably the dash of toasted sesame oil and soy sauce. MSG doesn't add much to egg ;)

Having an Omlette from a chinese is, for me, strange. As I'm ordering food from a foreign culture of food cooking establishment. And I order a typically English meal!

But it's so nice....

I cook this at my cousin's / uncle's / parent chinese takeaway. There is nothing special. All the same ingredients as you expect.

To the OP, did you have a plain or a meat omlette?

it can be the type of chicken but what I suggest is that you get your cooked meat, fry it off a bit in oil, let it brown a bit. Add your whisked eggs. Add some salt and some MSG (more MSG than salt) I would say and then wack it in the grill. The egg should rise quite nicely and can or should take like your local take away.

There really isn't anything special unless you want to boil some peas and put it in a box so it steams a bit but can't be much more.

Haven't had one from a chinese in ages but imo they are tastier than i could make. Agree with what others have said, probably different oil, much more salt and MSG.

That's tomorrows tea sorted. Chicken omelette with garlic and chilli!
