On The Wagon... then in 'ere!

I was gagging for a beer last night! I've got a whole case left of the rather lovely Cascade from Gloucester Brewery, and just knowing it is there has my mouth watering. I stuck to water though :D

It'll be going in the shed. I bought a load of real ale as a pressie for my old man, but he no longer likes real ale and will only drink John Smiths! So I ended up with a surplus that I was never going to finish by the end of December. I'm looking forward to February though :D

Haven't had an alcoholic drink now since Christmas eve - though the initial cause of my abstinence was due to a medical issue I can honestly say I've really not missed it in any way. I've still got loads of beer left in my shed so I'll still be aiming for that top spot in BOTW Mk3 ;)

I've also got quite a few bottles of malt whisky left so I'm not saying I'll never touch the stuff again. I am saying it'll be a good few months before I even think about having a beer. On the plus side I've lost a "considerable amount" of weight already and I've been driving throughout the festive period playing taxi driver to friends and family. :)

Firstly, continued well wishes mate :)

The point you make about driving is one that I fully appreciate. Yeah maybe not so much the decent taxi driver that you've done but more just having the ability to be able to jump in the car and go whenever you want.

Friday night

Really really wanted a drink. Just tired now.
You know it gets better buddy :)

Feeling irritable, shakes and aching for a drink now :(

Found an old open bottle of cooking wine and seriously thought about drinking it.... In the sink now thankfully.

Really hoping that I will feel better about this in the morning. The thing is so far I wake up feeling pretty rubbish to start with, mainly due to a lack of water no doubt, not as yet really substituted my alcohol intake with anything non-alcoholic. :p

Over and Out

I'm on it till the end of the month. As today is my last day of my festive holidays (2 weeks off with one day in last Monday), I shall be having a couple of beers tonight and then none till February. Missus is giving up wine as well and we are also both giving up chocolate, cheese, sweets and cakes. Basically all the bad stuff I have been cramming in this Christmas.

I'm a little worried to be honest as been a pretty boozy two weeks off. I've only had one night in the last 14 where I was not drinking.

Same here mate i go back to work tomorrow after being off 2 weeks and im off the beer now till then end of the month at least

Thanks, all good so far. Testing time will be when going out to stuff I guess.

Plan ahead, think of what you will drink instead of beer, wine or spirits. Have a few ideas just to vary things (check out page one of this thread for some excellent suggestions from Cosimo). If you are really worried then try taking the car and be Mr. Popular taxi man. Failing that, take your phone and jump in here for some support if needed :)

Good luck, and stay focused.

2 nights down. The real test will come on Friday night though. Determined to hold out till 1st February. Been invited out for a big Chinese feast on that night so it is my target date now.
