I'm running a mother board with a built in ATi 4200 GPU, and in my infinite wisdom back in october I thought getting a Geforce 460 GTX was a good idea. Ive been experiencing stuttering (which i've made a few threads about) and I'm still trying to get the bottom of these problems.
My question is this, does having a nvidia card in an chipset with on board ATi graphics cause issues? I cant imagine AMD isolating their customers into only using their own graphic cards considering the market share Nvidia hold, even if they are their biggest enemys because it would be like shooting themselves in the foot.
Another question I have is how do I remove every part of ATI/AMD drivers to do with display so I can have a clean installation of the nvidia drivers. Ive tried driver sweeper, and I can still find ati files dotted around.. And after rebooting I go back into driver sweeper and still find stuff in there after 'analyzing'. This is in safe mode aswell. So basically, I'm either doing it wrong or its doesnt work. Awesome stuff.
I cant understand why the hell my 'mother board chip set driver', that I grab straight from gigabytes website, basically seems to be a version of ATi Catalyst drivers under another file name. Surely that is asking for trouble when I'm running a 460 GTX in here, its no wonder my vsync is so messed up. Would I be better off having the chipset running with some basic stock MS driver?
If anyone has ran into this problem themselves or can offer any advice, it would be MUCH appreciated. I have no idea whether my problem is windows 7, my graphics card or what!
