Onboard controllers

Howdy

I'm not too clued up on the world of HDDs, but I'm in the market for a new mobo..

Do different motherboards have differently performing sata controllers?
Does this performance make any real world difference?

If so, spec me a mobo/controller

I have 2 diamondmax 10's, and a WD500AAKS

If you're not planning on running RAID then there's virtually no difference in performance between the various controllers.

Doubt I will.. from what I've read, it looks like I'm just going to get a 1TB F1, and dump these drives in our server / down the back of the couch.

Good choice. The controllers will only make a slight difference in different RAID setups.
