I hate paying for fuel - and assuming we're ignoring purchase price and depreciation (a la Ferrari's) - running costs should be manageable.

In 3/4 years let alone 10 years the Model X will probably be classed as a crap electric car

I seriously doubt that. However you 'might' be able to get something equivalent for less once more manufacturers get in the game.

Personally, I think estates are great. They often look sleeker than the equivalent hatchback, have much greater practicality, and have no major drawbacks.

I completely agree, although I'm definitely in a minority amongst my circle of friends. That's why I was surprised, and pleased, to see that I'm not quite as wacky as they make out

Lexus LC450h ... being a Lexus it will be reliable as hell and if you only do about 15K miles a year, still under warranty at the end.
