One hundred pushups

Has anyone completed this yet?

nope! i think the tables are pretty inaccurate from week 4 onwards.

after week 5, you take another test.. if you manage 45, you proceed to week 6. i got 41 on the test which means i redo week 5, doing column 3. i couldn't even finish the 3rd set it was that hard! :o

i decided to switch to column 2 in the end.

I've managed the press ups pretty easily in the end, sit ups im close with. Pretty much do it at least twice a week still.

I'm going to give this another go as well. My gym membership has just expired so I may to try to save some money doing this combined with the pull up and sit up one.

I do the situps and pressups, chest and stomach definitely look loads better than when i started. Arms are a little better too i think.

I want to do this, as I want to get some more strength in my arms. However, I have arthritis in my right wrist and because of this find it sore when doing a palm down push up as too much weight is on my wrist joint. However, doing it with a fist lessens the pain considerably. Therefore, I'm asking if it would be OK to do one hand as a fist and one normal as it's very hard to do a respectable number when using fists on both hands.

I did this about 7 months ago, did it for 4 weeks but then joined the gym. Went from being able to do 20 in one go to 60!

I was impressed. When I joined the gym it helped catch up with my buddies in the tri's/chest department.

I'd try to keep both hands the same, so either both fists or both flat but that's not based on anything other than a belief that symmetry is normally better for the body. You could also consider push-up stands as they are supposed to lessen impact on your wrists.

As mentioned, get yourself a pushup bar. If you get the JML Irongym chin up bar it converts to a pushup bar as well. And its pretty nifty.

Iron GYM is pretty good (Or something similar) I don't often use mine for push ups but it does give the wrists a rest ;) and helps with some extra range of motion.

how much are people struggling with their later sets as they progress. i find myself needing a breather every now and then (though i do tend to start holding my breath - if i could get this controlled, maybe i'd be better?)

Breathing is very important.

Control your breathing you may knock one or two more out.

I love push ups - do sports since I am 7 - karate/ thai boxing/ tennis/ swimming/ list goes on and on!

took season off training, now going back to my "sport shape" ...

as to this program - who gave it a go? what's achievements? :-P

Heres a tip, Reset your count to 0 every 25 push ups, It makes it so much easier. Stupid Brain being easy to fool:p

I am doing my own version of this. I started at 10 push ups and, each day, I added 1. Iam now up at 27 today and do it in sets of 15 (ATM) i.e. 1x15 then 1x12 which will increase to 1x15 + 1x13 tomorrow. Once I get to 30 I will add 1 to the first set then the second etc.

Seems to work ok :)

FYI, using the method I mention above (adding one each day), I just blasted out 28 in one go instead of 2 sets so it def works.... (was meant to be 1x15, 1x13 today)
