One hundred pushups

I'm on my second week of doing the push up and pull up programs, I've actually just repeated the first week again so I've got a good base to start from.

I found last time I tried this I really struggled to get the final sets out, so hopefully I'll do a bit better this time.

Hmm I'm currently staying off the weights and just hammering cardio so I think I'll give this a go to complement it, I'll start Monday for ease of keeping track.

just done my end of week 4 exhaustion test and scored 39. this is three more than my previous attempt at week 4, and nearly 4 times as many as i could do at the start! and i'm not even feeling that strong today.

ready for week 5 now!

Pushed out 500 today in 10 sets of 50.
Took about an 1 hour and 15 minutes

Going for another 500 tonight to make it 1000 :D

anyone else finding week 5 a big ramp up?

had my rest day after day 1 yesterday and that's usually enough to recover from any soreness. but i'm still feeling the shoulders today.

I have started this, did 16 today in the initial test, joined a gym in March and could only do 7 then so improved my strength from lifting.

Breathing is very important.

Control your breathing you may knock one or two more out.

I disagree, I find holding my breath the worst thing you can do - but then I've had breathing lessons as part of my opera training. Just low regular breathing helps me be most effective.

lol 500 pushups.

I agree with Morba, it's a waste spending some much time doing push ups. You could do a proper well rounded exercise routine in that time and develop much more than just a bit of chest muscle.

Wow. Have you seen any gains in muscle mass doing all those push ups?

I only did it once so no :p

The only reason i did it was to see if i actually could and to push my self no other reason then that :)

I did have sore pecs for 3 days though!

Whichever way you look at it 75 min of push ups is far more productive and beneficial than 75 min on the internet or watching tv.

So I say well done.

Of course any exercise is better than none, but if you have 75mins to kill why not do a more rounded workout. Doing lots of press-ups isn't going to build you a big chest.

I already go to the gym twice a week if i can using mainly all compoundsboth upper and lower body.

It was just 75 mins of spare time were i had nothing to do so i thought id challenge my self.
Im also hopefully and finally being accepted into the army soon and push ups are pretty essential for that.
I could also watch tv when doing them :p
