One in custody.

I've wondered if I would do the same in that position, because how do you "keep hold of him" for all that time? If I were caught committing a crime I think I'd put of a pretty good fight to get away from a bystander, so it must be quite a risk to do what you did OP unless you have a substantial physical advantage, or the bloke gave up!

Well done, not sure I'd have been as brave as you in that situation.
Hindsight says not sure if brave or stupid.

It was all over in minutes, someone else had seen what was going on and was already on the phone to the police as I was, the call handler told me.

I'll never call anyone who puts themselves in harms way by confronting criminals stupid. If everyone did as you did there'd be a lot less crime I reckon, so it's an entirely logical thing for people to do in a properly functioning society but requires putting that society ahead of personal safety. I certainly don't blame people for looking the other way though. Don't forget you also ran the risk of being arrested and prosecuted if you'd violated the perp's human rights in any way.

Well done. A brave thing.

I'll be honest, I'm more interested in how the police treat you than the perp.

Good on you. I just hope you blindfolded him so he doesn't know where you live or what you look like. This could turn nasty in the long run.

You have a wonderfully appropriate user name. Don't be such a big Jessie. Instead congratulate the OP on his actions.

Well done to OldCoals on his arrest (and that's what it was - a s24a arrest)

Do you actually have any proof they tried to steal a vehicle? Otherwise they'll just let him go.

Depends what Oldcoals saw. They could go after them of attempt theft or possibly going equipped, maybe even vehicle interference. Plenty of options.
