LBA/CHS Help

I've got three HDs.

80GB Seagate Barracuda (LBA)
160GB Maxtor D'Max 10+ (LBA)
250GB WD Caviar 16MB Cache (CHS)

When my PC is booting it shows a summary of the drives, and my new Caviar comes up as CHS, where as the other two are LBA. Is this bad?

CHS & LBA ????

Hi,

Which is better/faster?

I just installed a new WD Caviar HDA and it's the only drive in CHS. I've no idea what that means though!

Cheers,

LBA and CHS are just the ways in which the disk is addressed.

LBA = Local Block Adressing
CHS = Cylinder / Head / Sector Addressing

I believe LBA is newer, but I can't tell you much about the technical differences I'm afraid.

Try a google for "LBA CHS" or something like that....

Maybe this will help?: http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/bios/modesLBA-c.html

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.
