Onkyo TX-SR 307 .. time to upgrade

Well my amp doesn't have arc or sound though hdmi.. That is the main issue

ok but check your TV supports all the formats.

ARC/E-ARC is useful but I'd view it as additional connection, I personally prefer device through the AVR. Also allows you set to custom inputs, ie no EQ for HDMI 1, EQ for HDMI 2 etc. With everything going through the TV then you have a unified setting for E-ARC input...plus as I said you lose OSD for OSD volume and AVR setup so you'd need to switch over to input from AVR to TV just to get OSD for AVR setup.

Similar issue with people with soundbars, they're stuck in using E-ARC (as the soundbar only has E-ARC audio input) but the TV doesn't support DTS...so DTS 5.1, DTS HD and DTS X won't work...just get stereo sound lol

Currently I have my ps5 an media pc connected to the tv and optical to the amp
Sometimes I can see audio not being synced. Hence I am trying to think what is the easiest way to sort my problem. Ps5 doesn't have optical which is a bit of a pain.

HDMI will sync, whether going direct or through the TV, E-ARC has more advanced sync features.

You can manually adjust sync as well, either optical, HDMI etc. AVR's might have individual delay per input setting.

Try and use a preset mode on your TV that reduces the amount of lag, might be called PC mode or Game mode.

Not sure if that TV supports DTS, only way is to test it when you get a new AVR

If it doesn't, then go source-->AVR--->TV (BD, PS5, PC, Xbox etc)
Then use TV-->AVR for ARC only for the TV's own apps, netflix
