I think there are only certain buildings that'll give loot, ie Police Depts and Hospitals... with regular streets and the like i've not found anything

I found a length of pipe (read weapon) a book that gave me 1xp and a pistol clip - you can have that if you want bain mate? if I can figure out how you give things to people

You can't directly trade with other people, though I am not sure what happens when you just drop an item and if somebody else searches an area.

Yeah, the main 4 places to search are:

Police stations - Shotguns, Pistols, ammo, Flak Jackets
Fire Stations - Flare Guns, Fire Axe,
Necrotech Buildings - Syringes, GPS Units
Hospitals - First Aid Kits

You can get all of these at a mall as well + other items that aren't that usefull.

disconnect from the net, then reconnect. Worked for me!
