Opening a current account

Just looked at the terms for that first direct account and realised it says 'transferring at least two Direct Debits and/or standing orders'. That makes things much easier for my easy money plan :D

I like the RBS iPhone app and their online banking. But I don't like my card as I can't use it in pay@pump plus it doesn't have account number on front, just card number and sort-code.

I like my LloydsTSB card because I can use it in pay@pump and it has my account number and sort code on front. But their app is just a wrapper of the online banking site which is also rubbish.

Never knew that's possible, which banks are you with, just out of curiosity?

Me either. Aren't they looking out for this ?

I have a Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, & 2 x Nationwide current accounts.

I just opened the flex direct on Nationwide for the £2,500 @ 5% and was upfront and told the woman I'm only opening it as a saving account and would just bounce £1000 into it and she said that's no problem.

The only hassle is when a stipulation needs say a couple of direct debits on the account as well, I avoid those.

If you have a bit of money you can leave in your current account as well, and can pay in the £1000 a month, then Nationwide are offering 5% interest on balances up to £2500 and Lloyds 3% on balances between £3-5000

And Santander @ 3% on balances between £3k and £20k with cashback on some direct debits, too.

Hateful customer service in my experience, worst bank ever!

Never had a problem with them.

If they spend less on customer service as a result of giving out more interest I'm happy with that, I don't want to pay for super awesome hand holding customer service anyway. I want a place to put money, earn interest on it and a debit card. Thats it.

Another vote for Santander here, recently opened a Current account and a credit card to get cash back without any cost for the first 12 months.

Indeed, and thus far their web support customer service has been good for me, their credit card also offers 1-2-3% cashback, up to 3% on fuel, very useful, easily covers the monthly fees for the car itself.

55 and 15 pounds cashback if you open each one online also through quidco.

Main accounts with HSBC not had a problem with their banking service, and all the branches are clean and up-to-date. However the credit card side of the company are horrendous, the past year alone I've had to phone up 9 times to request for a pin number. Still haven't received one, so in the end I took my custom elsewhere.

The GF banks with Lloyds, and the number of times i've gone into a branch with her to pay money in, there's always a queue of people. Lloyds branches are so outdated and don't have any of these self-service kiosks that HSBC, Barclays, Natwest etc do.
