In your opinion yes....... in my opinion its bloated... :p

How's it bloated!? Opera is one of the nicest browsers I've used. Its fast and has lots of useful features!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be upgrading shortly :)

Just installed it again...... and i'll admit its much nicer then when i last used it, so i do stand corrected, it looks and runs a lot nicer now.

Quick Opera question - does anyone know how to make it open a new tab when you middle click on a Bookmark (a la Firefox)?

Cheers,
Matt

Hi All

I normally use FF 2.0.0.3 but thought I would give Opera 9.2 a go.

Having used it for a few hours today it does appear to be a little quicker than FF and is a good alternative.

But, I really don't like the quality of the display.

If you compare, for example, the BBC main news website the quality of text is not as good as FF particularly if you 'zoom'.

As I use a 24'' monitor I normally view at 110% or 120% and this really shows up the difference in quality.

Images can appear faster than FF but again I prefer the higher quality FF appears to offer.

Is this just me/my monitor/my graphics card?

Anyone else notice the difference?

I'm not binning firefox yet, and have no problems as the ones mentioned, but i do like the new opera.

To me though, Opera isnt any better and neither is Firefox, though Firefox is what i'm use to, so i'll mainly be using that.

Its not a contest, they're both good browsers.

I have a 20" display and can agree the Ghecko rendering engine is far far nicer if you have a quality gfx card for 2d and a quality screen for text display!
