Operation Flashpoint 2-Dragon Rising.

Its not a milsim! I think everyone would be a lot happier if they accepted that, despite codemasters outrageous attempts at falsely implying otherwise before launch. ARMA2 is a milsim, this is more of an arcadey console orientated fps. Fun in its own way im sure, but not a milsim.

arma2 holds the crown for being the most buggiest game ever
After OFP I cant say I was terribly surprised.

Dunno. Probably cos they dont want people to try before they buy - source

Codemasters said:
The main factor in this decision was to ensure that the full game received 100% focus and attention before it’s release. We know how long many of you have waited for this game, and we wanted it to be as polished as it can possibly be for your enjoyment, and this is why the demo has had to be pushed back.

continued... we continually stand amazed that anyone produces demos before their game is released. Any company that does release a demo obviously hasnt put in the effort to 'polish' their game. We did however produce lots of concept videos that showed awesome battles being waged by lifelike soldiers and vehicles in a beautifully rendered landscape. Anyone who wants to waste their time with a 'demo' should refer to these videos so they know what the game was going to look like before we started developing it and realised that it wouldnt reflect the game at all but didnt tell anyone. We would advise anyone who wants a 'demo' to buy the game, its like a really long 'demo'.

Sleepless your making the mistake of thinking all the man power has the same set of skills, dont forget the PR department is seperate to the progamming department.

Right well my pre-order didnt come on release day but after having played the game, I am going to send my now arrived pre-order back.

This game makes me realise how good ARMA2 is!

If I was a console gamer and I bought this, I would probably be quite happy.

But being a PC gamer, and having had the experience of playing the original OFP and ARMA1/2 I have been spoiled.

I have played the first few missions of this game, and it just feels bad...

Also, since when did it take 4+ shots to kill someone?

It seems that if you hit their lower body/legs, they can take up to about 6 shots before they die?

Now I know being shot 6 times in the legs wouldn't kill you right away, but surely it wouldn't allow you to crawl about 200 metres, then stand up and start shooting again?

Just wondering - what do the screenshots in PC Zone look like? The Codemasters faked ones or more like the stuff posted here?

Could anyone help me fix a script I have a helicopter landing at a waypoint and when it lands my squad dismounts and the helicopter will then fly to the next way point but it flys off with me inside unless I exit fast :D

is there anyway I can make the heli move to the next waypoint after I dismount not the bots?

heres my code

Code:
function onLand(helicopter)
OFP:dismountVehicle("Echelon", "OVERRIDE")
end

function onDismount(helicopter)
OFP:move("pilot", "waypoint1", "OVERRIDE");
end

Just finished the 'Decapitation' mission and was very impressed to be honest. Perhaps because it was a stealth heavy, evade/observe mission and I only fired four shots... and the only squad command I gave was to switch to tight spacing while making my way to the extraction point after killing two birds with one missile. It was quite fun evading Chinese troops over what seemed like massive terrain. Picking my way from cover to cover and observing enemy movements to avoid them rather than engage. It also felt like they were actively searching for me but not scripted or forced in any way.

I can sort of feel what codemasters wanted to do with this game but their hands were tied to coping with consoles or whatever excuses we can make for them. I have faith that patches or modders will do what should have been done pre-release... which in reality wont be all that much. It isn't a milsim as we were promised but it is more realistic in my opinion than COD4 or even BF2.

Overall I feel that it was £17.99 well spent. I have had fun with this game and in the end isn't that all that matters?

Im playing through this on the 360 in co-op mode with some friends and if you just look past some of the flaws it's great fun. I also got it for the PC for 3 main reasons, first being the mission editor, it really is superb, second reason is trackir in helos, I love flying helos with trackir and making missions, third reason is joystick support, I love flying helos with trackir in my own made missions with my joystick and rudder pedals.

Here's where the PC version fails on an epically biblical scale for me. The game hard restarts my machine within minutes, sometimes seconds of entering the game. No blue screen, just poops the bed and hard beboots my computer. I've tried everything, reinstall, memtest, temptests, defrag, antivirus, malware/spyware test, you name it, I've tried it, still ends up restarting my machine. Bummed :)

Oh not to mention it doesn't support my joystick and Trackir is quite limited in its use in the game. Looks like I'm stuck with the 360 version until I can find a fix.

Just intsalled this and like it so far. One problem is when I interact with an object eg ammo box and the menu comes up to take guns, equipment etc. How the heck do I get back out of the menu and into the game again? Driving me nuts. Checked the key bindings etc and pressed every key. I have to go to desktop and quit the game!!

One of my friends found that this only works if you keep the original key binding - 'e' for interacting with the object. If he changed it to anything else he could get into the menu but not get back out again. So if you can keep your 'interact' key as 'e' it should work for you

Just received this today, played for 30 mins so far an to be honest dissapointed, graphics seem poor, reminds me of the Old Delta Force games.

Playing it at 5040 * 1050 with 8*FSAA.

Won't give up just yet, will have another bash at it later to see if I was just expecting to much.

Taff

Instead of designating the echelon to your dismount function, put yourself (only) in a group (in modify) and name the group. Then put that group name in where you have put echelon. That way, it will only trigger when you (the group) gets out. There are all sorts of ways to do it though.

Just had a 2hr hamachi virtual lan co-op session with a mate. Utterly amazing co-op experience. Simple as that.
