Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

No compass in Hardcore - I take it they mean there will be no compass on the HUD, but you can see compass when looking at map or something? Would be daft having absolutely no compass.

So are most likely to get this on Xbox or PS3?

PC of course. If they are embracing the community in the same way that OFP1 did (even though they are completely different bar name) then PC will far outweigh any console version.

seems like a large xbox following so i'll be getting the xbox too, i've found the xbox live experience to be a more complete one than the online on the PC. £15 extra but should be worth it.

There's about 5-6 german hands that went up today but the translation isnt great. Couple of UK ones on the way though.

I'll get the bullet points from the german ones.

General overview

* infantry and specops campaign
* in summary 11 missions (each with secondary objectives)
* 66 weapons, 23 vehicles (ground & sea) and 6 helicopters (3x USMC, 3x PLA)
* There is gore if for examle, a satchel charge detonates near a soldier (but there's NO limbloss)
* OFP-DR will be shipped in a multi-language DVD with 5 different languages
* The game uses the havok physik engine
* VOIP will be supported
* OFP-DR will use the SECUROM protection (at least the preview code was protected with it)

Good things

* There will be a thermal view on the NVG for infantry (looks good)
* There's freelook in vehicles but it's a bit cumbersome
* If you run for too long, then you're going to hear your pulse/heartbeat and you'll become slower
* Different running sounds for different terrain
* If you graze a bush or AI then you're going to hear a rustling
* You can climb/jump over almost every obstacle by pressing the action-key
* Super weapon animations (javelin assembly and reload)
* Columns of smoke and the sky look beautiful and good animated
* The enemy AI heal themselves (a PLA soldier healed one of his downed teammate who was crawling on the ground - incapacitated)
* Your AI teammates can also heal themselves if they are not badly injured
* The AI uses slow moving APCs as cover to approach the enemy
* You can open and breach a door
* AI can also run through destroyed buildings and use it as cover
* AI can enter buildings and open doors
* Pressure of time exist only on some objectives

Bad things

* You can repair vehicles (like in FarCry², too easy)
* You can destroy tires (but doesn't affect your driving speed or behaviour, WIP??)
* There is leaning but only for the AI
* There were no high-resolution textures for the cockpits in the PC version
* The water animations are a bit weak
* You can't destroy trees even with explosives (maybe WIP??)
* You don't take any damage if you are near a fire (burning wreck)
* You can't see your feet in the 1st person view (looks a bit funny when breaching a door)

That was from a german hands on.
