oops, does the company still exist?
im not sure, havent given them a ring to break the bad news yet. thought i would give them time to enjoy some of the morning.
it sickens me to think that people can start up business without any qualifaction or licensing. we have regulars that run their own computer repair businesses that pop in for advice and their work is so shoddy. had one guy in last week that kept banging on that he was cisco certified. he bought in a clients pc which he swore blind the cpu had 'blown up'. it wasnt even running hot. basically he had a BSOD which indicated hard drive was failing, did a hard drive check which showed errors. this in itself you would think would ring alarm bells about the guy, but no, it got worse. he then went on to say that when putting the front panel wiring back on (god knows why he unplugged it) he could work out where it all went so could i have a look as the front usbs were not working. popped the side off, he had wired them to the power led and hdd led pins, aswell as some of the speaker pins. i was shocked that people like this are allowed to trade at all.

The thing is even with qualifications these people can still call bluff. If the right questions are asked you can normally detect bullers.

The people who can't do their job properly should be reported and investigated but in IT that's hard as a lot of it can be done on the side without been caught.

i know, i went to college, did my A+ and then work for a company with poor wages, yet people like that charge £35+ an hour to bodge it all together, its just annoying more than anything. if the customers get stung because they are old or just too trustworthy then its not fair. their should be a regulatory system in place that monitors companies and work on the mystery shopper style scheme that retail shops get.
