I think it is wrong that I am given no choice in the matter when im born whether or not they Chop my carrot.

They should show a picture when we are born!!

Of a chopped carrot and an unchopped carrot and which ever one i point to is the choice!!

Now in all seriousness if any of you was allowed the choice and it was done say at the age of like 9/10 what would you pick.

Also are you circumcised?

I am not.

Can someone do a poll - For and against circumcision? Thanks.

I'm glad I got circumcised as a baby. If i wasn't chopped as a baby, I would like to get circumcised now but I would probably chicken out.

I have a friend who got circumcised when he was 16 and he says it hurt like ****ing hell.

But how would you feel if you didn't want it.

I don't see it so much as oppression but mutilation, same as tattoos and piercings. Until the child is at an age they can decide.

Depends on the reason its done - but if its purely parental preference or religious reasons then its absolutely = mutilation no 2 ways about it.

How on Earth is it oppression? Some people believe it to be more hygienic whilst others don't think it makes any difference.
It's not like you loose your tackle or anything...
I'm not circumcised, though my brother got the snip at aged 6 or so for some reason.

Unless it is done for medical reasons it should be the choice of the individual if they wish to be circumcised. While it may be technically mutilation I'm not minded to view it the same as female genital mutilation as is sometimes practiced, circumcision isn't as barbaric generally speaking and has generally little negative impact on the individual.

You've got it easy as a man, what about all the poor women who end up being forced into female circumcision (FGM) and then have a lifetime of health problems. I agree it should be left until you can decide for yourself, but at least once its done you don't have any horrible issues as a result of it.

That isn't true, many people have psychological issues because of it as Goldman et al showed (1999 BJU), and Sorrells et al (2007 BJU) showed the sensitivity loss caused by it. The foreskin is the most sensitive part of the penis by far.

In any case it is a violation of a persons human rights and should be illegal, the fact that it isn't illegal is sexual discrimination, anyone who does it is a child abuser and any physician who performs it cannot be considered a doctor because it breaks the Hippocratic oath and violates medical ethics.

OBJECTIVE: To map the fine-touch pressure thresholds of the adult penis in circumcised and uncircumcised men, and to compare the two populations. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Adult male volunteers with no history of penile pathology or diabetes were evaluated with a Semmes-Weinstein monofilament touch-test to map the fine-touch pressure thresholds of the penis. Circumcised and uncircumcised men were compared using mixed models for repeated data, controlling for age, type of underwear worn, time since last ejaculation, ethnicity, country of birth, and level of education. RESULTS: The glans of the uncircumcised men had significantly lower mean (sem) pressure thresholds than that of the circumcised men, at 0.161 (0.078) g (P = 0.040) when controlled for age, location of measurement, type of underwear worn, and ethnicity. There were significant differences in pressure thresholds by location on the penis (P < 0.001). The most sensitive location on the circumcised penis was the circumcision scar on the ventral surface. Five locations on the uncircumcised penis that are routinely removed at circumcision had lower pressure thresholds than the ventral scar of the circumcised penis. CONCLUSIONS: The glans of the circumcised penis is less sensitive to fine touch than the glans of the uncircumcised penis. The transitional region from the external to the internal prepuce is the most sensitive region of the uncircumcised penis and more sensitive than the most sensitive region of the circumcised penis. Circumcision ablates the most sensitive parts of the penis.

Lol, if you say so.

Nah, you're probably right, cutting off skin off a child is harmless. Certainly not painful, certainly not traumatic. Nope, not at all.

Religious or medical reasons? Dont think hygiene is a valid excuse. Unless you have some funky medical condition i dont see why a baby boys body should be mutilated. God put it there for a reason, oh wait!

I think circumcision should be a personal choice tbh rather than being done at an age where the boy cannot choose for himself...

I am circumcised, I've chosen to be circumcised at the age of 11, I chose to do so due to the fact of its medical benefits and hygene reasons (not to mention, it can look quite good if done properly).. and I can confirm the fact that you do loose a bit of sexual sensation... However, It does not bother me at all, as It does make me last quite a long time in bed (which is good for my partner) and make her orgasm 100% of the time and often more than just once.. as for the myth that it can reduce a man's sex drive is non-sense.. I used to (and still sometimes do) get as horny as a dog on heat.
