It does seem odd to me also that in some places like America they consider this normal and acceptable. Nutters, thankfully may parents aren't crazy and I am still 100% man.

Nah, you're probably right, cutting off skin off a child is harmless. Certainly not painful, certainly not traumatic. Nope, not at all.
I think you should read DSM-IV, where you'll see it clearly meets the criteria for a traumatic event, if you think it isn't painful you should watch some videos of it on youtube lol.

Go and google FGM, and then go and be sick.
They either cut off part of the female genitalia so they have no sensation down there, or they stitch them up as a baby (as in stitch their foof up) so no one can get in there until their husband needs to, and it basically heals over, and causes unimaginable pain and issues as a result of having their foof stitched up.

I was being sarcastic in reponse to someone saying it wasn't barbaric and that it doesn't have much of a negative impact on an individual.
In this country yes, which is why lots of girls (and believe me I come into contact with them as part of my job) are taken abroad to have it done.

Male circumcision that is, female circumcision is a deplorable practice which should carry the death penalty for those who do or enforce it.
As an adult someone can decide, but if a child is born jewish or muslim and they're going to have the little fella chopped, may as well get the damn thing done early by a cleric who does them all the bloody time. He won't remember it, its his culture, which he can chose to reject later.
Personally I don't see any point in circumcision, and I am not, nor would I want to be. There are medicla conditions where it becomes necessary, but for the most part it'll never matter to anyone whether they are done or not.
surly if the parents are English, they can still be prosecuted when they return?

I never had mine done but im curious and im thinking about and i have no real reason for im just curious but it would hurt and the temptation to have a jolly will be to much!

I had to be circumcised as a child, about 4 or so I think I was. Can't recall the condition.
It made me very concious going for a pee at school, or at the pub. I shied away from potential 'relations' when offered because I was worried about its appearance.
I got over it by about 18 though and my wife much prefers it. A friend of mine also had it done at about 19 and he also prefers it. I won't really know, as I have 1 memory of a foreskin lol.
Wife wants to get our unborn son done, I'm not convinced.

Yup, and if someone is aware it is about to happen to a young girl, social services and/or the police will intervene and either take the child into care, or remove the families means to leave the country. Went on an FGM awareness day in Easton, and spent pretty much all of the day either feeling sick or horrified. Doesn't stop it being practiced on thousands upon thousands of girls elsewhere in the world though.
