what heatsink are you currently using?
im using a big typhoon and was getting high temps, took off the ihs and temps dropped by around 15c.
when i took off the ihs i could see that there was contact around the edges of the die but the middle was relativley clean so that means bad contact.
if you decide on removing the ihs then get a heatsink that uses the mounting holes on the board so you can vary the depth of the mount.
thermaltake ultra 120 extreme is the best air cooler around at the moment and would be worth grabbing.
