psssst it's awesome (for it's price) - Fills nicely in the product lineup but if you can get a 2nd hand excellent quality desire / galaxy S / other 1gig you may want to shop about. They even put the USB port round the right way this time. If it's like the tester it's going to be pure black all over though aside from the usual logos :) The screen is sorta like the original Desire's TFT one that replaced the oled.

If you ask me one of the real benefits is "HD Voice" which is actually WB-AMR. I won't bore you with you official youtube demo (as it's a MASSIVE lie) but this real life demo gives a good impression (except this was pre-release I suspect due to the mega echo on it).

updated :D with pics.

I doubt it will be as low as £129, id guess at £179 mark woudld be closer.

At £179 you'd be daft to choose one of these over a 1ghz powered Samsung Galaxy S1. I'd even take a Motorola Defy (800mhz cpu) over a ZTE device.

I don't have fond memories of ZTE blade build quality from owning an Orange san fran:p

Can buy a second hand desire for that kind of money, can't see this doing too well with such a poor cpu and probably super poor battery life like the blade.

I paid £90 for the blade when it first came out, i've seen it sold for as low as £79. No way is this worth double that.

Saw this ages ago on Modaco. Way too late for this now I think, you can get a HTC Desire which is superior for £14-$150 on the bay. I'm guessing this phone will launch at around that mark.

Brand new vs second hand?

If it comes in under £150, it's will certainly beat any other brand new handsets in that price banding.

Would expect the cpu to clock to 1ghz as well.

It was hinted to me a few weeks ago that if released in the UK it would be around the £129 mark. But like anything these things can change and it was someone from the manufacturer rather than Orange I was speaking to so there may be Orange tax on it.

Nice cheap phone but hardly an upgrade for anyone already with a SanFran. It does address the SanFran's biggest downfall though, the camera! Things like that are what matter to non-techno geeks like us on this forum and the 3MP no-flash was under-par.

The San Fran's biggest downfall for me was the lack of even decent FroYo support, the Skate has Gingerbread on it as standard and a fantastic screen so there are quite a few improvements over the san fran. It also seems a lot better built.

Most phone buyers aren't looking for phones on the bay though. The general public will go into a shop and buy whatever they get sold within a price range. So yeah, it won't be this.
