Organ Donations

Of course it's not really true - if it were, I'm sure they wouldn't have spent all those years at University while accomplishing all that medical training and would instead simply toss burgers in Maccy D's for 35K+ P/A :p

While I don't know Sonny personally I get the impression (from his posts in this thread) he's a keen body builder (yet to post pics) and has previously "taken juice" (what ever that means?). I'm also fairly sure that your average GP will have a far superior knowledge of the human body than your average body builder. However as is common in DG we've digressed a little off topic here haven't we? :p

dude GP's dont have a clue about bodybuilding or the human body, in fact they dont have a clue about anything in specific, they are not specialists.

for instance i saw several different GP's for my knee (had pain in my knee 24/7 and my knee would dislocate when put under heavy stress, playing football for example), all of them did ACL test and said, nothing wrong with it, i saw a specialist after 2 years and she immediately noted at least 3 problems, one of them being a loose patella and extreme hyper mobility. i even told the GP's my knee is dislocating and im in extreme pain when it happens and i need to pop it back in and they were like herp derp there is nothing wrong with it and it will fix itself if there is a problem

GP's are there to send you out the door as fast as possible with a prescription for antibiotics. if they cannot fix the problem with that, then they send you to a specialist.

its funny how as soon as i started physio, within 2 weeks my knee pain vanished after over 2 years of asking the GP for help.

the clue should be in their title GP.

why does that rule you out? my blood is perfectly safe

You should never give blood if:

You have ever had syphilis, HTVL (Human T - lymphotorpic virus), hepatitis B or C or think you may have hepatitis now

You're a man who's had sex with another man, even safe sex using a condom. For more information click here.

You've ever worked as a prostitute.

You've ever injected yourself with drugs - even once.

Incase your unsure of what drugs are, here is the question from the donor health check:

Have you ever injected yourself or been injected with illegal or non-prescribed drugs including body-building drugs or cosmetics (even if this was only once or a long time ago)?

Its all down to an increased risk of infection, if you have injected non-prescribed drugs you are at an increased risk of infection and they don't want your blood.

Hey there, yes I've bumped another thread but this is something I feel quite strongly about as I'd hope many others do as well? Anyway the NHS has recently launched a new campaign to encourage more donors:

Pretty much sums up this thread.
