Origin Account Comprimised - How to recover it?

EA really need to sort this mess out. I not been Hacked but just looking at my Account now and my god they isn't really much protection lol
Just look at what steam offer for the customer.

agreed its a total shambles, at least when I phoned up they did as for some additional security questions, but steam is far superior having said that ive had numerous attempts on that too

Why can't we get feature like Google and Paypal use. Where you can have your Phone has added protection for signing in to account/changing passwords.

It works great on Google if its the first time signing onto that PC it will ask to send a number to mobile and you use that to sign in.
Same with Paypal but instead you need your phone all the time no matter how meny times you sign in on your own PC.

Called them up, got through just now.

Pretty quick and simple process, confirmed my previous email, didn't have any security questions, bank details or anything so used a serial code to confirm the account as mine. Changed password and email back to my address and let me setup a new one and added a security question.

Despite not being able to get through to them last night, this was quick and painless.

So i can definately reccomend that 0870 243 2435 as the number to call, if you have this problem.

recently had this and the person had actually purchased games on the account EA were insistant that this was very unusual and figure he was sold the account by someone that hacked it.

had the account banned and games transferred, having to start again due to not having access to the original profiles etc.

also told that if the person on the account rings up and complains my new account will be banned and i'll lose the games anyway :(.

Just had this done to me about an hour ago, called the number above and got it sorted pretty sharpish.

My origin pass is completely unique to everything else and I don't dl or surf dodgy stuff, so how this happened...

Oh well, nothing lost at least!

I had exactly the same thing yesterday... my account got hijacked by a bunch of russians. Rang EA this morning and got it all sorted, doesnt look like the account was used ti play any games with... just some info was changed.

Just wondering for those who had their emailed hacked aswell were your passwords the same?

Mine are different. No idea how they are doing this tbh, it must be some kind of keylogging worm software i guess. But I've installed a new antivirus and they hasn't found anything either

good that they are working sundays too :D

that wont help him at all in the short term to get his account back

It would bring some attention to EA, as it seems the beginning of an epidemic going by this thread.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone in EA has sold/leaked account information.

My account was also "hacked" recently. Again some Russian guy. Went onto the livechat system (had to create an account do this :() and they sorted it out. Unfortunately the guy had deleted all of my friends and re-branded the account!

I would definitely say that EA has been hacked themselves somewhere, or someone has leaked account info. There are too many people getting hacked for this to be a coincidence.

That's all that's happened to mine by the looks of it, changed my name to something like loooll2255 and removed what few friends i did have on origin, as i only made the account a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was the case, it does seem odd that there's been a rash of compromised accounts lately.

It's also laughable that they don't require you to confirm an email address change by sending you an email. At least that would have allowed me and many others to have retrieved the account back ourselves without involving EA support!

Another result of me having my origin and email account hacked is the hacker also deleted 2 months worth of emails off imap server including my never settle voucher Farcry 3 Key sent from Amd :(

My bad was using same email details as origin. Would love to know how they got the information in the first place? Always been careful when surfing, MSE always on, regular scans with Malwarebytes.

I was thinking it was maybe a key logger but I've scanned my computer with many different Virus scanners etc. since but never picked anything up.

All passwords are now random characters and no two are the same, learned my lesson the hard way!

Quite worrying really, hacking origin account it one thing... But email is something else, what type of email account is it? Google, hotmail etc or your isp email account? I'd be really worried if they got access to your isp email.

I just had this happen, luckily I saw the password change email as soon as it arrived in my inbox, so I did another password reset and changed it, before they could change the email address linked to the account.
This definitely isn't phishing, this is a hack, the original password reset link went to my email address, so how could they click on it? My email account definitely hasn't been compromised.
