Patch 8 is out. Woohoo, Marauder and Roach got nerfed. :D

General


* Korea
* Added support to display the game rating information on the login screen.


Balance Changes


* TERRAN

o Thor

+ Build time decreased from 75 seconds to 60 seconds.

o Siege Tank

+ Build time decreased from 50 seconds to 45 seconds.

o Marauder

+ Concussive Shells now require an upgrade.

o Barracks Tech Lab

+ Concussive Shells upgrade added.
+ Concussive Shells upgrade costs 100/100 and takes 80 seconds to complete.

* PROTOSS

o Void Ray

+ Changed to only have 2 damage levels instead of 3. Still takes the same amount of time to fully charge.
+ Base damage changed from 2 (+4 armored) to 5.
+ Powered-up damage changed from 8 (+16 armored) to 10 (+15 armored).
+ Armor value decreased from 1 to 0.
+ Cost increased from 200/150 to 250/150.

* ZERG

o Roach

+ Burrowed move speed decreased from 2 to 1.4.
+ Armor value decreased from 2 to 1.

o Hydralisk

+ Life decreased from 90 to 80.
 
Why can people add me as friends on this and see when I'm online when I haven't accepted them?

no reaper speed reduce or anything in patch 8?


kreeeee - not sure, i thought you had to accept invites for people to see when you're online

Can I reword so i can understand...

Reapers now have reduced damage without a lengthy upgrade.

What has this got to do with Marauder rush?

Or did you mean Marauders have reduced damage?

I read the Marauder has just had missiles taken away without an upgrade, thats all
 
Replied on the first few pages about getting a key but still haven't been lucky enough.

Just re-registering my interest in the game. Sure I can sort out something to do with APB!
 
Noticed the original Starcraft + expansion for £5 inc delivery not sure I can mention them due to being competitors but if you look around you can find it, also can use quidco to :)

Starcraft 1 is still good but it looks like crap now in comparison to SC2. Well worth a fiver though. Personally I'd just try and find an SC2 key off someone or just buy one for around 30 notes
 
My first impression of this patch is they have broken Zerg
I think I will learn Terran this week and come back to Zerg after some more balancing is done. (Need to learn Terran anyway so this gives me a good excuse to do so)

I think the Marauder nerf has benefited Toss more than Zerg (Zealots will be more useful), however that probably means in the short term Toss will see more reaper cheese.

I've been trying to find a free/reasonably priced key but no joy. Now playing through sc1 which I agree looks crap but having fun none the less!

Yeah... I have no idea what I meant reading that back today. I think I was just tired and misread the patch notes.

Marauder rush has been severely nerfed, but reapers are the same.

Edit: I'm going to get a separate thread made for key requests.

Though my brain wasnt working correctly when i read it! A seperate key request thread is good. I was offered a key over email for £30 not long back. I'm sure there are still quite a few available that people would sell for that price
 
Keys are common enough not to pay, I managed to get keys for myself and 3 friends with minimal effort and some very generous forumites.
 
I have access to the beta but keep forgetting to download it.

I admit that I am a little worried about it, due to the fact that I have never been the greatest of RTS players - I've only ever played amongst my mates and there's rarely anyone worse than me! You lot would eat me alive! :D

The ONLY rts games i have ever played are dune, redalert, redalert 2, supreme commander (maybe 10 times max) and starcraft. You will be crap at first but its very easy to pick up. The hard part is learning different strategies that work against different people

edit - Is it possible to spectate someone game?
How do you give a teammate control of your units?
Is it possible to help a teammate, say have one of your queens spit larve on their hatchery
