**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

If you play terran, just try going mass marine with 3-3 upgrades, as marines can pretty much kill everything if there's enough of them and medivacs really help also. You don't need much gas also, so you may find 2 bases is enough depending on how many medivacs you get...

Sure it gets boring after a few games but if you want to beat a few bronze players it usually works.

I've been trying to use nukes lately, it's surprising how quickly you can get a nuke and cloak if you get double Ghost Academy, works great against 'toss. :D
Surely 3-3 upgrades is a little late to be using just marines? By that time a protoss could easily have colossi and a zerg could have mass banelings. Granted in bronze their fundamentals won't be great but they tend to stick to massing the more fun units like colossi and banelings, in my experience.

Saying that, I've never played terran in multiplayer :p, it might not take as much time as I'm imagining.

Grr, ghosts :p. Totally underused in my opinion and are incredibly powerful, especially with emp against toss. I find it so hard to see the dot :(.

Yep, with two Ghosts having the other hit 'em with the EMP seconds before the BOOM! When I spawn as Terran I often try to get a nuke in...or several :p

^ Nukes are awesome when you can get most their workers in one hit! :D

I remember seeing this vid a while back where a player would nuke 2 targets at once, and often the other player would only hear one "nuclear launch detected", so would only think 1 nuke was coming, and the 2nd nuke would totally catch him off guard...

EDIT: Here's the vid:
1 rax fe into double nuke pvt

What is awesome is when you win toss says "wp" instead of terra op :)
I've found some just leave without saying anything... but it is nice when someone does say wp or gg. :)

Well 3-3 upgrades aren't mandatory, but it's nice to have something to aim towards.

I've found that quite a few bronze players don't bother with upgrades at all, so it can often give you a nice edge. 3-3 comes out pretty fast if you throw down a 2nd ebay when you build your armoury, but you are right that certain units will just melt marines... I've found mass carrier particularly bad!

Mass marine is such an easy build for a beginner, I've found good if only as a learning exercise, as I used to get supply blocked and no build enough SCV's, but after a few games of building nothing but marines it allows you concentrate on your macro more (as you only have to build one type of unit...). Now I expand more and I'm throwing in many other units in with my mariners... ;)

EDIT: I have yet to get mass ghost to work though, they really work well with marauders and vikings I've found!

Ah I get you now :). I just had this image in my head of some bronze player on 1 base for 30 minutes waiting for those damn 3-3 upgrades :p.

You're right though, new players do tend to forget upgrades, they really can make a huge difference. The classic example is a carrier with +1 air attack upgrade. With 8 interceptors and each interceptor firing 2 shots, that's +16 damage !

An extreme example, but upgrades do make a huge difference :)

are you foxer in disguise? :p

Anyone watching the TL SC2 Open #8 atm? Some of the Zerg versus Protos games have been simply amazing. Massed Ultralisks is something you do not see a lot.

I have to say that the lack of Teran players in this tournament (not sure why) has made the games more entertaining for me to watch. This and the general lack of cheese tactics has made it a great tourney.

I've been keeping an eye out for some of the games on the streams here:

Do you know if any of the games are archived at all as I'd like to see them if I can...

I'll just leave this here:

:D

I actually build other units now, building only marines gets boring after a few games... :o

Also, if Slayers_Boxxer and Foxer the same person? Or 2 different people?

I've heard a lot about bitbybit.Prime but not seen any of his games until now. It's unbelievable how with play like that he's actually in code A even. Artosis was ripping him to shreads in the gomtv stream just then haha. :D

it's all about jinro vs idra tomorrow! seriously psyched for that game. bitbybit is just one of many players who don't deserve to have qualified whatsoever.

Was playing some 4v4s with mates. About 10 mins or so into the game we get rushed by like 30 void rays thinking wtf?!?! Then they all disappeared to much relief :D Looking back at the replay one guy got a crap ton of sentrys and hallucinated void rays, colussus and high templars XD

I've been playing the EnderCraft Tower Defense mod for this quite a bit lately, its got me addicted to it as I love TD anyway! Definitely worth giving it a blast if you like TD games! :)

I'm quite new and am in the bronze league and played a terran using marine maurauder and won using high templar psi storm... He said he had never seen them before and had played about 200 games vs protoss so I assumed he was lying... Turns out he's played over 1000 1v1s :-/ And never seen high templar?? Strange

Didnt you know? Every protoss in the bronze league just gets Void Rays :p

In fairness, Colossi and Void Rays are much more appealing at lower levels as they require little more than '1a' at the end of the day. Also Colossi with a stalker/sentry/zealot force is an incredibly solid play at all levels. Void Rays can be good in huge numbers as well.

HTs are more difficult to get to and require more control. So they're less appealing in that respect.
