**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Oh, I agree with you, but at that stage of the game it's still possible to change strat relatively easily if you know it's been scouted.

At 4 mins +, it's not that easy to change strat so you have a firmer idea of what's coming and how you can react to it.

Personally, thats why I feel it's not the end of the world if you don't scout their base within say 2 mins. I find the early minerals more beneficial and don't have the skill to macro and fully micro the scout as a pretty average player.

I should add I'm only lame enough to play Terran, but I think thats where the OP on this came from.

Yeah I do also agree with you. I play Zerg and my first drone scout helps me lots and i can generally guess what hes going to do. Just to make sure I sack a Overlord at about 5minutes because tahts 100% what he is doing :)

had the most epic zerg 3v3 match last night, went pretty eco heavy. didnt get a pool until 15 , dropped a hatch at like 30 as was trying to get gold but was outscouted :(
but still for the first time in a long while i think i understood zerg as a 'reactionary race' - probably helped that my team mates went mass thors and tanks lol.

and then i went into a proper ****ty 1v1 where literally all the guy did was marines, i 4gated with hullic (my fav skill ever) , brought up a colussus. only for him to effectively go all in with about 15 marines and all his suvs only for me to **** up my ff, pretty much giving him the win....il admit i raged hard and called him a marinelovingwhore, in all fairness though he did have nice micro.
lesson - get a robo and get a real colussus.
hah :):)

4v4 I was put in a match with terrible teammates, and the opponent was favoured :)

Needless to say I'm bronze again, who's up for some 4v4 tonight?

I'm back in silver. Thought I might go up as I've been beating a lot of gold recently. Oh well something to aim for!

won my placement game but it was a big slog.

Worked out how to tackle zerg finally but now toss are becoming an issue. its interesting how as you improve certain strats just stop working as you play better players.

Just got SC2, gonna go through the single player on..some difficulty, ill choose later, and then try and gold some challenges i heard about.

Quite excited ^^

Any tips for beginner MP?

#0252 and #0261 are both great. Also have a look at all the newbie Tuesday dailies.

Teamliquid wiki - http://www.teamliquid.net/ loads of solid builds for each race, many certified newbie proof.

Before you throw yourself into the MP, as you've said play the SP and some challenges, some are a touch frustrating (I'm only a silver league player) so don't worry about failing miserably.

Also check TL wiki, find a build you like and test it vs. AI.

WHY WON'T IT PROMOTE ME :(

3rd in bronze but still not promoted, but everyone else was (sad face :()

Ah well, just means I have to play tomorrow as well ;)

I think (it is just my thought, not based anything I've read or heard) but the one placement game is probably just to show account activity.

And I also think after a couple of weeks, BNet will proabably have another shift around, or more likely even continue to shift around continuously over the next 2 weeks until players are placed correctly.

So if you've been placed in Bronze again, (when you was hoping for higher) maybe once BNet have got the confirmed account activity figures for this seasons start, maybe then people will be placed accordingly.

Rank means absolutly nothing, and has no relation to being promoted.

The only way you'll be promoted is by consistently beating people in other leagues above you, and you won't be promoted till your win rate against those above you balances out to 50%ish, so that blizzard doesn't have to promote you twice.

So, if you're playing people in leagues above you, and still winning a lot, just wait till it balances to 50% wins and you should be promoted. If you're still facing bronze leaguers you won't be promoted :).
