**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

He already made a name for himself, this has just been blown well out of proportion :o

This is nothing compared to what idras known for and yes blown out of proportions. Naniwa is a strange guy but they could have warned him and that would have been the end of it.

I suppose, Idra's 6 pooled in order to 'get it over with' on occasion, throwing the game. Whether that's any better or worse than Naniwa is open for debate I suppose, but I agree that a warning would've been the appropriate response, especially where precedent and any formal basis for ruling isnt fully established.

Ah well :o

I find Zerg's a lot of fun, especially compared to protoss. Gotta love the feel mobility gives you in map control :D

No scratch that, gotta love having mobility at all! :p

Yes. I came to a realisation the other day that regardless of how bad I am at this game, I really enjoy it none the less. Can'y say that about many games.

I swapped from terran to zerg and it's the most fun ive done in sc2. However, playing 2v2 its a pain cause you need to do the same build again and again.

When is the Blizzard cup final? 12 hours from now? I'm quite looking forward to watching it now.

As for the whole Naniwa thing, I think it's been blown out of proportion, with hindsight, he should have cannon rushed instead :D

Naniwa banned for that is very silly compared to what others done. I dont have a subscribtion to it but I wouldnt get one either.

He wasn't banned. The GSL give out 2 invites to their Code S league, Naniwa was going to be getting one, but after what happened they said they weren't going to be giving him the invite, he was still allowed to play for the Code A league.

And as mentioned, at least play something which has a chance of winning. A moving all your probes won't do anything. A 6 pool, a cannon rush, those have a chance of at least winning.

Why bother? Pointless game.

That's a completely different argument, though. The fact is that he wants to be in their league, so he needs to play by their rules. Their rules say that those matches get played, even if both players are already out. That's how they've been doing it for years and people still put on good games. The fact that Naniwa thinks those games are above him? Well, he doesn't have to take part if he doesn't want to.

I was diamond in (i think it was) season 2 but i've since given up on starcraft. I realised I hated losing so much that I didn't find the game fun anymore. I had to force myself to ladder, just for the sake of it, and would feel ridiculously frustrated whenever I lost. I just thought what's the point, why don't I go play something which I can actually relax while I play, rather than sitting frantically spamming keys all tensed up.

Not that I've anything against SC2, I really enjoyed aspects of it and the pro scene is awesome. i just don't think it's for me. Too serious/competetive.

Has this happened to anyone else?

EDIT: sorry, just remembered I wasn't diamond. I was platinum. I faced quite a few diamonds but stopped playing before I got promoted.

I'm going through something similar to this just now but I (was) top silver trying to get into gold. I really don't know why I take my league and rank so seriously but I think most people do. I surrendered 10 games in a row this afternoon in an effort to stop caring about my rank and win/loss ratio. I definitely need to step back from the game a bit, after all...it's just a game! :)

I would also like to warn any new poeple wanting to get into SC2 (multiplayer anyway): This game is hard...like, really hard and if you aren't willing to make SC2 more than just another game, more like a hobby, don't expect to get very far. I play a few hours per week and watch a few hours of pro matches and I think I'll reach my peak in Gold league.

You will become a better player this way. The ladder is there to practice and get better and certain tactics/builds etc etc. You do not need to win every game to do this. :)

I think playing on a smurf account every now and then helps for people who care about win/loss ratio. Does mean you have to buy the game again though. But this means you can try new things and learn stuff with out messing up your ladder progress on you're main account. a lot of pro's do it

Yup another good idea. And if you're really into starcraft, paying for another account won't really bother you.

Sorry but sounds like a big waste of money to me.if you don't won't to mess up your stats can you not play against your friends or practice against ai?
Just sounds a little extreme/ sad to me.

You may not have friends who play sc2 or maybe you do but there not at the same level as you. And AI practice? Surely you're joking.

SC2 is kind of a big deal to some people, i have not done it my self, but i don't see why it is "sad". Most people who put the time into SC2 and make use of a smurf account don't really play anything else but this game.

I tell you what i think is a bit sad/stupid though, people who pay for SC2 lessons!

Yeah and you should see how much some of the pro's charge for a lesson. I think idra charges over 200$ an hour.

Last time I heard anything he was charging around $300. Idras a rager tho ;)

Anyone here play regularly? I'm always up for some games as this and star wars are the only games I'm currently playing daily.

My ingame name is Kamwah. If you can't find me reply here or PM me with your details.

Nearly a week back from my 6month break. I'm top 8 in my gold league and consistently beating high plats and some diamonds sprinkled in :D
