i would say over all that the game is pretty balanced at lower level. When you get into some of the higher levels some people say that is not amazingly balanced but its still used as an esport and seems to be pretty balanced ( tajea is pulling up stats I know)

When you first jump in top the game it is hard but its not as hard as you might imagine.
There are loads of guides out there as well so there is plenty of ways to learn what you are doing.

Imbalance is completely irrelevant at lower levels because you're mechanics and understanding just aren't there.

Not really

...and i would be noob lol.

yep

Is this game hard to play? lol

Yes.

But don't worry, it's hard for everyone. Even people who are 'good' have to work hard to keep improving, so everyone has it difficult :D. Main idea though is to have people who you can play practice games with and talk to. That's what this thread and the OcUK chat channel in game are for. It's not so bad really, I promise :D

Realistically anyone below GM or top 4 masters is comparatively terrible at this game and makes lots of **** ups etc.

Don't feel bad about being bad - we all are, just people in the mid leagues don't like to admit it. (obviously diamond is less bad than than bronze, but still bad)

You heard it here first. Seeing as I've been playing GMs for the past 2 weeks I can moan about balance =D

Haha jk.

You're bad Sheep, you admitted it.

What is it about Zerg just now - it's seems to be constant banling bust followed by mass speed lings piling in against terran.

Ok I know I'm only mid silver and despite walling in and the bunkering behind that, I still seem to be getting massively overrun.

replays? :D;):p

they are to depressing to post:(

i know i know - i'm being to hard on myself - i barely play once a week at the moment, used to be high gold at the start of the year and gradually slipping with each season that passes due to lack of play. Would love to really get back to playing more often but ain't going to happen.

Won my first ever FFA yesterday - nevered played FFA but won it which was quite pleasing but then lost 6 1 v 1's in a row all against zerg!

A friend pointed out that someone did a commentary of one my very old bronze matches.

How can I sue for slander! :p

Then again there is a reason why he has a low follow count on youtube... expecting a bronze league match to be anything like a masters game is just so stupid.

Just reinforces my view: if you can't play at high masters level, then you have no idea what you are talking about in this game and shouldn't pretend to be a caster.

Of course this doesn't apply for games outside of SC2, SC2 is just one of those games where you need a really good understanding of it before you can even criticise a player's decision.

There are very few casters that are actually masters league.

Frodan, Gretorp, Apollo, Day9(Unconfirmed) are the only ones I can recall.

CatsPajamas, Apollo, Painuser, HDstarcraft and most of the rest are all Plat/Diamond.

I mostly agree with you but I know people who're plat/Diamond that have a good understanding of the game yet aren't mechanically good enough to be in the higher leagues. There are hardly any casters that analyze the game, most of them are play-by-play which doesn't need any understanding really.

I also can't think of any casters that don't continuously make mistakes while casting and say stupid **** that's just plain wrong.

Commentating hardly requires a mastery of the subject you're watching. Ever seen a sports/football match? Only fella I know that does it well is Martin Brundle off F1

To be honest you dont need the physical skill so much as the knowledge of the game and tactics. Just because you dont play in GM doesnt mean you dont know the strategies and timings they use. Just because you couldnt execute those builds yourself doesnt mean you dont understand why they work, what they're targeting and when they're weak :)

I agree, it's perfectly possible to commentate or analyse the highest level play without being able to do it yourself.

In fact a lot of the time it's the opposite. Ask a pro snowboarder exactly how they do a trick and they might not be able to tell you, yet ask the coach and he can probably tell you the specific movements required despite not being able to do it himself.

It's an unconfirmed rumor. I believe even he might've said so at some point.

I doubt it though, Day9's insight isn't anything special.

I don't find it that hard to believe he's been at least GM level at some point. The guy was pretty much the best player at BW in the US back in the day!

Tasteless in his Realtalk inteview with JP (look it up if you're at all interested in his background, it's really good) admitted he didn't have time to play any more. He's pretty good at the play by play stuff though!

I do with his casting quality. He say stuff which is just downright wrong half the time.

Also Day9 is busier than Tasteless so I wouldn't be surprised that he's not playing even if he was good in BW (Look at IdrA)
