**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Not a fan of Idras personality but his gameplay used to be really good. I have a feeling he'll drop in the 1st or 2nd set of the bracket though. He always seems to do well when he shows up to an event then he falls hard.

I was right xD

He said himself that if he beat Rain that he would win the whole thing. That's a load of bull, Creator would have been waiting for him at some point.

Creator will probably win the whole thing. He beat both Squirtle and Parting in the Korea Nationals.

Parting just won WCS XD
Sad that Creator lost T_T

Annoyingly for me 2 Terran in the last 16 none into last 8... Terran needs some kind of change! ( and not the normal nerf )

I was thinking the other day that maybe they should reduce Rax and Factory costs but slightly extend build time? Make it easier to match Toss/Zerg production while not making it so much easier to rush?

Indie.851

Not played any 1v1's in a long time and havn't even seen the HotS units yet... should be interesting :D

Edit: How to join the OcUK clan?

Hi All,

I was wondering if it was worth purchasing at this later stage? I noticed this can be picked up for €20 as part of the Blizzard Black Friday deal (so £16ish)

Will I just get smashed online or is it ok?

Of course you'll get smashed online. You'll lose and if you can take it and learn from it, you'll get better and move up divisions. If you sulk each time you lose you'll not enjoy it. Keep in mind that even the best players in the world have a 50% winrate on ladder.

Yeah sorry should have stated I dont expect to win, would just be good to be able to have a few opportunities to possibly win (once I progress a bit further)...

Just wasn't sure if there would be many new players to play against to try and have some chance against and that we would both be rather new to the game...

The matchmaking is pretty good but you'll probably have to go through quite a few losses before you meet people of your skill level (maybe 10+ games if you're really really bad). It really is an excellent game - the only RTS I've played a decent amount online. If you can grasp the basic principles, you should learn at a decent pace and it can be very rewarding. If you do play, I advise playing Protoss :-)

Hero is terrible at being consistent with his play and he's just not a player I enjoy watching.

Seeing hero dominate dreamhack reminded me of this statement (as well a the Skype conversation in which you insisted that hero was a low skill player who only got into code s by luck).... of course, I don't expect you to admit you were wrong, just thought I'd point out how dominant he was :-)

I didn't ever say he was a low skill player, nor did I say it was all luck (I said GSL groups have a fair amount of luck involved). I said he was overhyped and generally not as good as other Korean Protoss players.

Meh Dreamhack is always pretty random with the calibre of players it attracts.
MLG is the same but it always tends to bring atleast a handful of Code S players.

Taeja got stomped. Best Terran in the world right there (lol Overhyped)

---
Just to add, his group was below his skill level. Nani hasn't been doing much since getting knocked from GSL, Thorzain won WCS Sweden (woopty doo) and ForGG has done well in two offline tournaments EVER.

Both Taeja and HerO have made it into the CodeS quarter finals twice and semi-finals once, I wouldn't call that over hyped personally.

Both of them are in the top 5 of their respective races according to ELO based on results found here.

Neither are over-hyped at all...

I said that he must be good as he frequently beats good players and did reasonably in gsl code s 2 seasons in a row and you disagreed and claimed he had less skill than the other code s players (remember ryung being an example of a significantly better player?). A few pages back, you also call him 'meh' and implied liquid sea was better than him.... care to justify that opinion?

ELO is a retarded system that just doesn't work because TLPD doesn't count the majority of matches and half the time Koreans are aiming to take certain events seriously while others they just troll in becuase they're required to take part.
It's also why there's been no monthly racial win percentages for a while, because the records on there keep getting worse and worse. (TLPD and Liquipedia are done by volunteers so I'm not surprised that they're both way outdated)

They've both had good runs in Code S. Hero is nowhere near Code S level which is why he gets knocked out every Ro32 since his first time in Code S. Taeja was dominant earlier this year but IMO it's just because he'd figured out TvZ moreso than the other Terrans, now they've caught up and Taeja won't get past the Ro32 again for a few seasons.

I don't know how Ryung came to being an example because I wouldn't call myself a fan.
No idea what post you're referring to as I can't find it about Liquid`Sea.

Why are you bothering to argue with kamwah?

lol kthxbai

What are you even on about, every single game is updated. Even if we exclude the international database and look here at just the Korean tournament database, the MOST important games, you can see not only is every game entered and up-to-date but both players are in the top 3 of their respective races.

Essentially you haven't a clue what on earth you are going on about and not only are both players of Code S level they are both two of the absolute best players.
