When you're against terran always 10/11 gate and put your cyber core down the second your gate finishes. Your stalker should be out 10 or so seconds after the reaper gets there. Until then, pull 3-4 probes to chase it, pulling the weak one back and letting the rest chase.

I got attacked by 4 reapers, need to be faster i think! When does the forge go down, before the gateway or after? I tried for forge, gateway, cyber core then warp gates to warpin stalkers but didnt have one unit out by the time 4 reapers attacked me (just 3 cannons)

If you're going for fast stalkers then gate, assimilator, cyber and then straight into chrono-ing out stalkers. Forge early only if you're keen on getting any cannons. With the current forge nerf then that's all the more difficult though.

For 4 reapers, you'll want at least 2 or 3 stalkers, or 2 stalkers and a couple zealots. If they're reaper harrassing that late, then they might have the reaper speed upgrade, so if you only have one stalker then they'll just out-micro you.

It's impossible to have 4 reapers in your base before your first stalker, unless your build order is really really wrong. 10 gate, 12-14 assimilator, then cy core asap you'll definitely have a stalker out before the second reaper gets there. Unless the dude proxy barracks right outside your base.

A stalker can hold off 4 reapers no problem, they have higher range and die in 3-4 shots.

Been doing well recently, changing my tactics around and going air a bit more often, I still have some major issues with Zerg but I'm not losing every single match against them any more.

I have to say the learning curve in SC:2 is rather unforgiving, also the placement system seems to be a touch off, for someone like me who did a bit of research into early game strategies and so on it can place you very high (top end Silver in my case) simply because your wiping the floor with people who are trying things out for the first time, once you get into the leagues proper the difference between "knowing what to do" and actually being able to put that into practice and adapt during games becomes incredibly evident.

I've got to say though it's a really fun game, at least when your winning.

My only gripe with the game is rushes and proxy strategies, they are just a bit too reliable and effective against lower class players like myself and it can really ruin the game. I have no issue being beaten by someone who was able to simply out build or manoeuvre me but every time I get rushed by 6 zerglings when I've only just got my first Zealot up or find that a barracks has been floated into my base out of LoS and is now mass spawning marines to wipe out my mineral line it just makes me angry that people feel that is the best way to play.

I think the issue though really is just me, I don't play to go up in the leagues (I'm current in copper, about 15 though was 54 this morning so that's nice) I just play because I thing it's a nice change from my usual style of gaming, not saying those that do just aim for getting higher up the ladder don't play for fun of course, maybe if I had that mentality I would find rushes more "fair" but in my current state it just feels like a dick move made by someone whose seen that it can be an easy win in the lower leagues so feels it's OK.

Meh, either way, I only tend to get 1/5 matches where someone does the above so it's not so bad, I'm also getting better at countering them so who knows, maybe there is hope for me yet.

Oh one last thing, Battle Cruisers, am I right in thinking Stalkers/Sentry the best combo to take them down?

I agree. Initially I placed top end silver but now languishing in the lower eschalons...lol

I get annoyed with early rush etc and also team mates who speak no english or just dont speak. I like a bit of time to get a base going but most peoples attitude seems to be 'this aint civilization....' lol either way still enjoying.

Anyone fancy some games add me to their friends list!

Proxy and cheese strats, are stratagies that work at the end of the day.

The best way to deal with them are to spot them early through scouting.
If your scout gets to their base and it doesn't look like anything is happening, send out another scout and put down a your rax/gate/pool straight away.

I caught a proxy gate/cannon rush on Desert Oasis tonight. At first I was like "WTF Do I Do!!! AGGHH I'm going to get pwned." Then I thought "Calm down, put down your pool now, scout his base to see what else is happening, create an early overlord as the last thing you will need is to be supply locked at 18 when the zealots start coming, and throw down an extractor in his base, just to be spiteful".

I did all of this, got my first 4 lings out just after his gate popped up, I noticed a cannon coming down so I killed his probe first with the lings, then I took out the cannon. I thought about taking out the pylon, but I realised that any Zealots that appeared would have a much easier time in my base. (the pylon was outside my base on the ledge below the gate and cannon were in my base)

Luckily his first zealot spawned in a corner and could not move... I Lolled hard at that one. My lings just went to work on any further lotts that came out and attacked the gateway in the mean time.
I was just about to start pulling lings off this task and rush his base. But he quit

He knew it was all over for him.

If I had not send my scout out or my overlord in that direction, I would have not been any the wiser until the Zealots started appearing in my base, by that time it would have been too late to do anything.

So true. Worth taking the time to scout potential 'problem areas' where they might try to do something cute with proxies. Ultimately we're talking about what are effectively 'all in' strategies, so if you can take them down then you've won.

Is cannon rush really still effective with the new forge build time?

You're so awesome that they can't define your true rank.

It's a bug. I've seen several topics about it (Google it), but apparently it's yet to be sorted..

great, they patch the game and add bugs. Never had that one before and still have to accept the terms and conditions every time

but the patches are supposed to fix things and not break them are they not ;)

Not really, a patch can introduce a bug, as is very common in Beta's, it is then up to us as testers to report those bugs so Blizzard can have them removed by the time the game goes live.

Patches are predominately to CHANGE things at this stage, they may fix things from the previous patch assuming they are important enough to need fixing.
