The same happened to me. I was protoss and AI kept sending ground units into a wall of my defence cannon things. Turn around, come back. rinse repeat

Then i sent my army in and nailed them. Great game so far but needs better AI/real people
 
I was to the understanding the beta had no AI opponents to play against and it was just multiplayer, is this true?
 
that is correct, there was an unoffical leak of the game iso beta and some crazy coders have built custom AI And got the game to load into a skirmish with the AI, that is what some of us have been playing. you can find all the stuff with google search on sc 2 forums. but it doesn't work on battlenet of course. it is also very flakey, cause it is not a proper rls. at least now i can practice and learn the units etc so when the game does come out, the people who have been playing the beta arn't going to kick my ass as bad :D

Which leads me onto my next point which I didn't want to mention in case I was wrong.

Those complaining about AI need to stop, it's a cracked version and not official, it's badly done.
 
There is (unless it has been disabled in a beta patch) AI in the official SC2 beta, but apparently only the 'very easy' difficulty level is available. That's why you may have seen some people who are actually in the beta complain about it.

And the official AI is buggy anyway.
 
I had a game yesterday against level 5 AI and got the crap kicked out of me by battlecruisers and god knows what zerg units. Must have been 10 battle cruisers + some other marine units and 100 zerg units raping me all over (and each other) I lasted a decent amount of time but my defence was too poor.

At the end of the game a message popped up on the screen 'GG' I thought, eh??
 
had a nice game last night terran vs zerg, i had a ramp to defend and made loads of marines at the top of it. the zergling rush stood no chance. then i put seige tanks and that was sorted.

i went for air units and built battle cruisers and banshees and some ghosts with nukes etc. i took them out easy, the zerg AI didn't tech up completely or put up big defenses. I have not been able to beat the protoss AI yet, can't seem to get enough units to withstand first attack.

if you can get past the first attack, which is not that easy if you are noob. then you should be able to beat the AI. i think they did a good job with it the custom AI.

looking forward to the campaign big time :D i heard they have a new race called lore or something, infested terran... sounds cool.

Zerg infestors can shoot out eggs which hatch into infested Terran units, they're basically a weaker version of a marine which if they're not killed will die anyway after 20 seconds. Didn't knwo about a new race for single player, haven't looked into it that much, sounds cool if right though.

Make sure and check your email/bnet accounts folks as another wave of keys appears to have been dished out last night. *curses his terrible luck*
 
How long is the beta going to last does anyone know? I am so excited about the prospect of this game that i might buy a copy of WOW or Warcraft 3 just to be in with a chance of beta access!
 
Release will be during the first half of this year, that was the last official word I heard from a Blizz guy on a podcast interview. Volunteered the info before being asked so it might hold some water. I expect late June :)
