**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

18 months isn't unexpected. Still, within or about a year would be nice, more like BW was. As said, they'll already have so much existing content, resources, and knowledge from the development of WoL. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, adding new MP units with each expansion is a must, in my opinion. Hope so.

Considering that they might add new stuff just like with any other game expansion ? And it's not like that's the only thing they do, they have other projects going on as well and need to focus on them too.

I see no reason why they would release it any sooner than in around 8-9months after first release.

Game engine is not everything, they've diablo3 is nearly finished along with the engine for the past year or so and yet we probably won't see it for the next 1,5yr or so seeing at how many times they've delayed D2 and SC before release.

Yeah and Valve had Source engine up and running for 6 month release cycle for HL2 episodes... six years ago.

I'm surprised if we see the next part of Starcraft 2 any sooner than 2 years from now. Some other studios can and will release games at a more rapid pace but Blizzard always takes their time. And it shows quality-wise. They can release games with 10-15 year old game mechanics and still surprise everyone with the quality and content.
 
I bet the cinematic cutscenes they put into all their games will take a fair bit of time to do. Personaly I think the quality of the cutscenes is perhaps up to good enough quality for a movie if blizzard ever wanted to make one.
 
Some lucky ppl might get it in the post today ;) others will have to wait till tuesday before it hits the shelfs games always come out Fridays here, tuesday in the USA but for a change and to stop ppl breaking its protection they are letting it out world wide on sameday i think
 
so, ive been away for the past 2 weeks! anything exciting happened while i've been gone?

1 more day and then life is over ^^
no better way to spend it than talking about Starcraft :D
 
Not a lot tbh, just all of us pining for the damn release to come! My CE has been hanging around since Saturday with nothing to do. :( but I have been wearing my dog tag! :D

unfortunatly couldn't afford the CE if i wanted to play on release. damnit!

If any of you see me online tomorrow night, tell me to stop it and play the single player ^^ otherwise i'll never do it!
 
On the official website they say that there will be different game lobbies depending on which SC2 game and expansions you have. At first I was very dissapointed with this but I suppose every multiplayer rts does the same thing, it's just a shame there will be segregation and that inherent pressure to upgrade if you want to continue to play with the majority.

Eh the release date is tomorrow so surely it will only be "guaranteed" to be delivered by tomorrow!? I think its parcelforce and you should have been email a tracking number to check up on it too. I have my tracking info anyway.
