**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

all of the soundtrack in sp so far has been terrible blizzard usually make amazing music for their games

I think its pretty cool, very firefly esque.

Loving the campaign so far especially all the extra units. Constantly getting the feeling that i should have made different choices when it comes to units and tech etc though. (upgrade wise)

SP i'm playing at the mo, mixed bag really, I can't remember if the first one felt so zoomed in, which is the general trend with RTS's of late, and irks me greatly. EDIT:- Actually i'm sure it felt fairly zoomed in just because it was at stupidly low res back then, these days the same sort of view, but over 1920x1200 on 24" screens feels damn awful though, RTS's really need to let you zoom out to whatever level you want like Sup Com.

About must be 10 missions in, well, the maps seem small, theres rarely a chance to really build up a hilariously fun force, its got that forced situation where some maps you can't attack bases, if you do it will just randomly spawn decent units till whatever size force you have is wiped out, then go back to normal.

I dunno, it has been fun, but the story is so generic that I'm surprised, it also looks pretty lame, graphically it seems dated to me, while the cutscenes as per usual with Blizzard look pretty tasty.

I really can't decide, I'm even more pee'd off as I had forgotten about the whole buying the next two campaigns separately as I got into the pre-order/its released tomorrow hype and bought it. A £35 game, so far, it doesn't seem. Unless the next two campaigns are soonish(not HL2 Episode distances apart) and incredibly cheap, then I get the early impression I'm going to feel very ripped off.

Yes, after every mission you think, that units great(because its designed to be for that mission), you ***** your cash on upgrades, and then never use it again and find yourself short for the later units.

Loving the campaign. I'm sure the convict marine will introduce a lovely plot twist at some point, he's undoubtedly hiding something.

Pity i'm up at 6am, otherwise i'd carry on. Just done the mission where I had to swipe an artifact from the Protoss while the Zerg are attacking them. Marauders make the mission a breeze.

Considering I only bought for online im very pleased with the single player so far! 6 hours played and 5 of them single player haha. Played one "practice" game online and got owned after getting rushed by about 20 marines right at the start :(

How does the upgrade system work?

The missions have extra objectives that give research points - usually collecting zerg dna / protoss artifacts. In between missions you can spend research points on protoss / zerg research trees which give buffs for units and buildings etc

(Examples - refinery's auto collect gas / command center gets a reactor so you can build 2 scv's at once / supply depos have no build time)

You also get cash from missions which you can spend on upgrading units - each unit so far has had 2 upgrades available eg - firebat had larger flame range, medic had better healing / tech lab not required for barracks in order to build em.

Probably about half way through atm, taking my time and talking to everyone, playing on normal which was the wrong idea, will probably do another playthrough on hard / vhard.

Appreciate the lengthy reply, sounds like a good system. Although one that you could seriously regret later on in the game during your first playthrough.

Is it still the case that there are unique units in multiplayer? (or am I thinking of another game)

I locked the "List" page to stop people messing with it. At the bottom choose the tab "Add Your Details Here" to add your information.

I can already see a bunch of people trying to mess with the main list :P

Really enjoying this sofar. I had no intention of buying it but work gave me a day of on its release day, felt like fate :P

Seems really polished. I am about 1/3 of the way through single player have messed about with some of the challenges also. Their is absolutely loads to do in the game, tonnes of achievements like world of warcraft.

I think i will get my moneys worth on the single player alone. I tried one quick multiplayer game against AI and lost in 10 minutes... so yeah will have to hone my multiplayer skills drastically!

Now I can start multiplayer after completing my self imposed mission :)
