**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Deffinatly, im having difficulty staying away as most of my friends don't want to 1v1 me and only wanna play team games. pretty frustrating. might just have to start ignoring them soon because ive started to get rubbish ^^

no need to be, worst thing you can do is win :p because you tend to learn the least from that

Ill have some 1v1s with you indie. I might get beaten every time but guaranteed i will be better after.

I'm starting to get annoyed at random team games so have been going ranked 2v2 with scott and someone else (ash)

I'm sure it's been asked before so please forgive me, this thread is large at moving at a rate, how come the game is £44.99 on download and is it really worth that?

bc thats the price they set for it.....
worth is subjective, if you cant be bothered to order it online/go out and buy it and just want it there and then and dont mind the £10 increase then it could be worth it.. if i was you i would just buy it retail - no difference apart from price.

How big's the download, I'm only a 2mb link?

Well the retail is 12GB, so would take you some time, I'd suggest saving your money and getting a retail version. Or if you prefer spend a bit extra and get the collectors edition.

Yes (IMO) its worth that, but why bother paying that when you can get a hard copy for £34.99, open the case, register the key to your account and put the copy back in a draw. Hard copy normal version is in a nice box with some good artwork. Better than just a game in a normal dvd case anyway

It took me about 2 hours to download, patch and get playing

You didn't buy it digitally did you? :(

It's about 7gb. The 2mb thing is the blizzard downloader. When you open it, go to the preferences and turn off P2P or your download speed will be terrible.

It was the other way around for me... I was getting around 400kb/s with p2p enabled, which I was annoyed about as I wanted to play it that evening. I tried switching off p2p, and my download speed immediately jumped to around 3Mb/s, and I was in-game an hour later.

By the way, re: my earlier post, did anyone else find that some of their achievements were missing after yesterday's server farts? Or am I just special? :p

Because I wanted to play tonight and I'm at home, to get a copy would require a ~40 mile round trip that I don't really fancy. Unless I just wait until tomorrow when I'm in the office?

Got to say no point getting the digital copy, once you have the key registered you no longer need any of the physical stuff anyway. So unless you live miles away from a shop jut nip out and buy it.

cancel above post then big drive, unless you have a mate that can nip to the shops now and buy it, as i said all you need is the key. Then just download the client and your good to go

Oh well, no Starcraft 2 for me for the next few days.

My post in another section -"Was just switching some fans back on in my tower while the computer was on (turned a few off yesterday because of noise, but it was getting too hot). Was re-routing a cable and needed to temporarily remove a pci card. Annoyingly, when I put it back in I missed the slot and touched the motherboard. Next thing I know there is a hiss/pop sound and the PC dies and won't switch back on. The power and reset buttons are still lit up, but they don't seem to do anything. How bad is it? Anything I can do? I assume the PCI card must have either shorted something on the motherboard or conducted a static charge from me :(

Lesson here: Don't work on your PC while it is on!

Leave it unplugged for 10 minutes (cable totally out) and try starting it again.

How is it the other way round. That's what I said. :p

RAVE - reset bios (take out battery for a few mins) then try again. Re-connect all the motherboard header cables. (personally i just have my power button and usb header connected) If they still dont work your motherbaord might have some button on to press in. Mine has power, reset and clear bios i think

So far I have won 3/3 of my placement match, though i had to fight hard to win my 3rd. Think the next one will be hard

Not working late tonight as planned so think a tin of Monster and some Starcraft is in order.
I have all the achievements so far up to the Great Train Robbery mission (another one to go on that)
What’s the best strategy for that one folks? Just build loads of units and keep attacking?
I've only played it twice so far
