**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I watched those replays Kar, but that kinda thing just doesn't work at lower levels. You just get rushed whilst you're building up.

At lower levels, just keep massing units and wait until they attack, kill their attacking army expand and win :)

Just had a nice losing streak today. Can't seem to win anymore. Here's a little replay pack, if anyone wants to give me some tips. :p

Well to use day9 terms, just broad strokes here (and it's always easier to comment on replays than to actually play the game itself).

But I watched the Jace game and there's a couple glaring issues

1. You didn't make enough workers. He was slaying you in the worker count and took a MASSIVE economic lead at around the ~12 minute mark.

2. You didn't tech to colossi or storm quickly enough focussing too much on gateway units. Once the terran death ball starts getting close to, or over 80 supply, you need some sort of area of effect. And the sooner you get it, the sooner you can assert map control and take an economic lead.

3. Without this aoe you didn't poke at him so he was free to do whatever he wanted and with him parking his barracks units at the watchtower between your bases he was controlling the map, not you. And he exploited it for massive economic gain.

Even when you got colossi and were dealing a lot of damage, he had such a ridiculous economic advantage he could just keep producing more and more stuff and wore you down.

I think against the sort of opening this guy did, if you see 2-3 barracks going down, always open up with a stargate and put some early pressure on them so they have to waste money on vikings. You can still make colossi work in the face of a lot of vikings if you transition into stalker phoenix colossus.

This is half the reason terrans are whinging now pvt is imba :)

The Jace game was the metal one right? Yeah that was really bad. >.>

I tried to go pheonix for the first time against a zerg in one of the replays but it went horribly wrong.

Just had a match against a terran who played 1519 league games 768 wins, crazy, he tried to pull off a bunker reaper opening on me, must have confused me with zerg.

Also Scott, against that terran yeah you guys didn't trade armies much, just sort of stayed at your bases, he decided to expand seen as there was no pressure and took a huge economic advantage.

Also he had 3 barracks and all of them had tech labs meaning heavy marauder army composition, if you would have gone with void rays to harass he would have been in big trouble.

I keep getting owned by zerg massing mutas when playing as terran :/ I usually encounter an insane amount of spinecrawlers so an early attack doesn't work too well (unless it isn't early enough?). Vikings and thors come out too late to stop the harass on mineral lines and it's a uphill struggle from there. I do a few scans but I usually see a banneling nest or something else so I'm never certain about what they're massing. I own any zerg that doesn't rush mutas but really struggling otherwise.

Any tips?

Could tell you what would beat any zerg for me, open with double helion to harass and keep them on their toes, so that they can not drone up. Then I go into mass thor with mass helion.

So its rax with reactor factory swap them produce 4-6 helions. After factory is done make an armory then another factory with tech lab then expand.

With an expo you should be producing thors out of 2 factories and double helion with blue flame out of 1 factory with reactor.

If you do helion harass right you will have at least a single thor to protect your mineral line before zerg gets mutas and if zerg is not careful you can kill all his drones, 5 or more mutas definatelly kill a thor so pull some scv's off the line to repair it if zerg is persistent.

Don't forget to get armor weapon upgrade they're crucial.

If you don't like that style of play then I suppose marines + a single thor, thor to draw fire upon and marines to actually take on mutas but then you're very open to bainling attack so get some tanks to cover the ground.

That thor/helion thing works for me 100% if executed properly though.

How on earth would you beat it as zerg, 1k diamond players are having hard times with it :o

Also the thor helion banshee build is a nightmare for zerg

Just played a slightly higher ranked zerg and took him out :) His build would have normally destroyed me but it went well. Thanks again :D

I'm getting sorely annoyed now. Everything seems to be about rushing, and despite following build orders, watching replays I just struggle.
