**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

It's pretty similar to WC3. I imagine you'll enjoy SC2 if you enjoyed WC3.

There isn't tower defence in the vanilla game however custom maps are popping up that offer this. They're pretty fun if you don't fancy an intense match :)

Anyone got some decent TvT strats? I'm getting matched up against high plat now and it's just early banshee harass then mass tank + viking with a couple of thors. I'm getting better at it but it's a bit stale and repetitive compared to other match ups.

I feel for the poor guy. The first person to hit 3000 points in the world did so, while minigun had 2976 points. And the guy that did it first? The most BM guy in the world lol.

He thinks protoss is so underpowered that no one playing protoss can actually win thetournament like GSL.

Also, Tester has already been saying that TvP all-in timing pushes are over powered in one of the playxp interviews during his fail to qualify in GSL2 (not 3). I have no definitive source on this so don't quote me.

What we do know is that Tester won the TSL Clan Tournament defeating SangHo in the finals. TesteR changed his race to Terran to TvP SangHo and won.

I would like to see a Terran change to protoss to PvT a high level Terran.

Try and pick up a guest pass to try first. Every game came with 2 passes. I ahve given mine out but maybe someone still has one?
 
My account is now totally messed up.

I managed to lose about 800 points out of nowhere, and now I'm playing vs rank 99 bronze players EVERY game and getting 0 points when I win.

Blizzard have been extremely unhelpful so far after 3 phone calls and 2 web tickets.

I'm trying to talk them into giving me a new CD key so I can start totally afresh, and they can disable the old key.

You know what the most annoying Terrans do vs protoss? They get Marauders in the early game. Then they transition to medivacs and...marauders in the midgame, then for the late game, they shake things up with a couple ghosts, medivacs and...marauders!

I've seen it so many times now, protoss builds their lovely force of zealots and templar in the centre, ready to face off in an epic battle, then BOOM. 10 Medivacs drop of 40 marauders in your main. Can't attack the front of their base effectively because they've built PFs to defend, so you just do your best to salvage whatever's left of your base.

I'm convinced it's possible for Zealot/Templar/Observer to be amazingly good against Ghost/Marauder/Medivac though, but I think it'll involve getting a good surround with the zealots and properly cutting off marauders (perhaps cutting one or two templar for forcefield would help. Their mobility with stim and concussive shell makes them incredibly annoying to kill, even with charged zealots. Seems like at the moment good micro from a terran player will kill off observers, emp HTs and out manouvre zealots without too much trouble.

Colossi are always a possibility but they're very fragile if not supported well and really cut down on mobility, so you're even more vulnerable to drops on certain maps.

anyway mass baneling zergling..sounds like a fun game :D Would expect to see a transition to infestors and then off to wherever depending on how you react, but sticking with it for 27 minutes..that takes guts :D
 
Today something strange happened.

Came up against a Terran going MASS RAVEN. Just popped into my base and dropped about 10 auto turrets.

It was annoying, in the same way a mosquito is annoying until you get bored and splat it with a newspaper, played in this game by mass blink stalkers. It didn't end well for him, he got a few good hits with seeker missiles but I think in the end I lost a Pylon and about 7 stalkers.

yeah, it was constant zergling to baneling battle. a few times i managed to catch him near my base making the transition, so it was a turkey shoot :p

he did transition into muta's in the late game, but i countered those buggers with lots of marines, and stimmed into his base all LEEEEEEEERRRRRRROOOOOOOOOYYYYY!!!!!! style to take his spire down.

but at the end of the day, he wasnt a very good player. he baneling busted my walloff and did not follow up with anything (on quite a few occasions)

(and reading your post, i always forget ghost's for the dt's :cool:)

not that great to be fair because of the shields. once the shields have gone down their not too bad. much much more effective when they have speed though.

From my experience though its not worth going banelings early because their easier to be microed out of with protoss units as their tougher.
much better going for ling into muta.
