**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Well WoW is MMORPG while starcraft 2 is an rts so I wouldn't say they're similar :D

It is somewhat similar to warcraft 3, single player is enjoyable, custom games (just like with wc3) are endless and awesome but multiplayer is where its at, varying from casual to highly competitive.

Try to get a guessed pass from somebody to test the waters and see if you like it

ok i will come back and ask once im on my home computer and internet as downloading on a dongle ain't advised :p

i've got several if you want to give it a try mate, but no don't expect a game similar to wow! it's an rts in the most traditional sense, build bases, manage an economy and produce an army superior to or that bests your opponent. if that's your sort of thing then it's an amazing game :)

For the first time ever I played a 2v2 with a zerg player! He is v good actually and taught me a new tac, he sends in lings to keep them on their toes and I get 4 warp gates, I then build a pylon just outside his base below the cliff, his overlord gives me vision up into his base and I can warp straight in 4 zealots at a time. Game over :)

Is it just me or is zerg not v popular? I almost never see them in quick matches

Well zerg is not as pretty as some alternatives (protoss) so it makes the race unappealing from the start then there is playstyle that concentrates on macro game which only platinum + players on average seem to prefer.

All that makes zergies that much underplayed.

It is quite severely under-represented.

Hehe, nothing like the fluid motion of 200 lings though :D worth playing the race just for that.

eww but they look gross :D

Haha, finally rolled random tonight, will post a couple games for your amusement as promised. Havent played as T yet, but my zerg is embarassing :o

Also battle.net appears to be unresponsive to me atm :(

EDIT: works now..

Ok, three replays to share.

First is a game i played before today against terran that was quite horrific. This one's a good reminder that HTs are just..amazing in all ways.

Interesting bit starts after I lose my whole army about 16 minutes in :p

Right, first game as random:

Rolled protoss! :D 15 nexused on Metalopolis, while my opponent 7 pooled...Wierd start. Worth watching just to mock my panic building at the start :p

Had a Mothership/Voidray/DT/HT/Zealot/Stalker army by the end, but I think i'd won that game a bit before i got air. I just prefer starvation to outright destruction. :p

Last game is a ZvT. Mockery for being terrible is very welcome :D

Was a good lesson in scouting. Especially on a small map like Steppes. Will start drone scouting more :p. Even then, will probably suffer badly to these strategies for a while :(.
Perhaps I need to be a bit less ambitious with expanding, try to play more 1 base zerg styles on the small maps..

Feedback and comments are always appreciated, especially on the third game! :D

and that's why you go kyrexzenith style zerg on joke maps like steppes! :p tbh even on close spawns on the 4 player maps with the exception of maybe shakuras which isn't on ladder anyway atm, you are running a big risk if you go too heavy on the eco and expansions, a problem i still have. the time to really hit the expos and drones is right after attacks, or maybe harass if very successful, otherwise it's a ridiculously fine line. more difficult still is not knowing whether they're actually going to attack or not. feigning pressure is soooo important to playing against zerg, and most good t's and p's will make it so it's hard to tell an all attack from a mild harass, feigned pressure.

but anyways enough waffle from me, as soon as i get the chance i will try and take a look at your replays mate and give you my two cence like you gave me :D
